He beat only old washed champ/great fighters

Overeem
Arlovski
Cain
JDS
Stipe

ALL wonderful fighters/champ but ALL WASHED

Then we have
Blaydes
Lost to Lewis
Rozentruik
Gane

He got hella lucky against rozentruik rushing like a tank luckily his shot landed but rozentruik was so close to counter him

the way ngannou rushed at rozentruik was so dumb even a 5 yo kid dont rush like that

Gane dominated him on the feet so ngannou the guy who KO people inside 5 seconds became a wrestler suddenly

Great run but a bit inflated imo

Stipe run was more impressive

The most impressive HW run was JDS by FAR

Roze did counter him, he just ate the shot. I mean sure a lot of his opponents were past their prime (you left out his best victory Cain Velasquez) but he could only play with the cards he was dealt, and he dispatched of most of the guys he fought in devastating fashion.

JDS getting annihilated by Cain twice hurts his run a lot imo.

I agree that Ngannou's run is a bit exaggerated. His striking against Rozenstruik was downright sloppy, but he's got power for days. He has no business boxing someone like Tyson Fury. Wilder has as much (if not more due to technique) power as Ngannou, but he's a better boxer, and Fury beat him three times.

These are still better fighters and better wins than Tim Sylvia run, Brocks run, Coutures Run, Big Nog's run, Cain's run, JDS run and yes I will say it Fedor's run in terms of top 10 HWs who would be relevant today if prime. Was Fedor a better fighter than Ngannou? Yes he was but with the size and power and skill of Ngannou I cannot say that Fedor would easily beat Ngannou.

The ufc division us old af guys. Don't expect a quality resume from any HW these days

Ngannou’s run was impressive because of the way he beat his opponents and how easily he did it. Other than Gane and one of the Blaydes wins, all his wins were complete annihilations that weren’t even remotely competitive.

There’s also some revisionist history here, because a lot of people picked JDS, Cain and Stipe to beat Ngannou in those fights.

Not sure how beating that many good fighters makes you overrated tbh.

its funny on how you say "great fighters" which i said it too and which is true but removing "but washed" to make you sound right and me wrong

Gane dominated him on the feet

If Gane dominated Ngannou on the feet, why was he the first one to attempt takedowns? Rounds 1 and 2 were fought exclusively on the feet, and Gane chose to attempt 2 takedowns then, which Ngannou stuffed. So Gane had plenty of time to KO/TKO Ngannou if he was truly dominating him on the feet.

Francis has an iron chin, he eats Ciryl and Stipe's shots like somebody sneezed at him

Ngannous best wins are all the young guys he beat plus Stipe. Stile was still world champ and had beat DC, you cant discount that. Not all the ancient legends. Overeem was still pretty game too when he Ngannou shadowrealmed him.

Arlovski, Cain, and JDS were toast. JDS less so than the others at the time. I still cant believe they sent Arlovski against Ngannou while on a three fight losing streak. That was sanctioned murder. Even in his prime, I think Ngannou would be a bad matchup for Arlovski.

His resume is probably overrated. Gane and Stipe are very impressive wins though and Blaydes twice(depending on far he goes) may be in retrospect a much greater accomplishment than most realize.

I think Francis may have had the potential to become the best HW ever, if he were to beat Jones that would instantly be a fabulous addition to his resume and realistically I do not see anybody taking it off him.

I am not sure if u are referring to Stipe 1 or 2 but the first fight everybody including the UFC was writing Stipe's funeral before the fight.

Yes punches will land if you throw them. Not sure how that’s lucky.

Sherdog, don't ever change.
We just had a thread about Overeem having this "awesome" run, and now people are saying Ngannou really didn't do much during his run

The 2nd fight, the odds were about even and so were most of the picks. Stipe dominated him in the 1st fight and had just beaten DC twice in a row.

Nobody really knew if Ngannou had made any improvements, if you recall, since his previous 4 fights before Stipe lasted a combined 3 minutes or so lol
