Most of this forum hates on Dan Hooker now, so I suspect we'll see the usual shitposting in response.

That said, I think he has a point. Let's say, for argument's sake, Conor is retired (personally I think he'll call out the winner of Justin/Khabib), but again, for argument's sake, let's say he's not BSing.

Tony is coming off a brutal beatdown and should probably sit out for the rest of the year and take a #1 contender fight when he returns.

I think if Khabib beats Justin, and Hooker beats DP, there's a decent chance we could see Khabib/Hooker

Wouldn't complain if he did get a shot off that win but I think it's unlikely. We all know they will try to shove Conor in against the winner of Khabib v Gaethje. I think a fight with Ferguson later in the year is more likely.

He’d have a point in almost any other division. Simply put, at lightweight it’s so competitive that you can’t just get the W you have to do it in a spectacular or dominant fashion. I don’t dislike hooker, I’m just being a realist. There’s a good chance even if he wins he’s not the next guy in line.

I don't wanna see him against Khabib again

It was hilarious how he after the 1st round against Khabib said in desperation "I can't get him off me!" What the fuck did he expect, sounded like he was already on his way to breaking after the first round

Why would we hate dan hooker? Regardless he brings it. Even though he got decimated by barboza, he showed heart

The Barboza massacre really wasn't all that long ago.

It'd be a solid streak but the Vick KO hasn't aged well and the Felder win wasn't dominant.

He'd really have to starch Poirier to be able to demand a title shot.

Read the posts in any thread with Hooker's name. The GIF of him being finished by Barboza is spammed over and over, most say he was gifted a hometown decision against Felder, and that he ducked Islam.

He doesn’t look ready yet, I don’t know why he wants to rush it. He has the skill to get there and stay there for a bit. Just not now.

Nobody hates Dan Ducker mate. He's a good fighter, it's just he was too scared and terrified to fight Islam Makachev.

Anyhow good luck to him. Can't see him beating Poirier.

I mean according to the rankings he absolutely should if he beats Poirier (and Conor is retired). Only Tony is ahead of him and I can't see his next fight being another title shot.

It certainly doesn't sit well with me that Hooker rather blatantly avoided a fight with Islam (who has allegedly avoided fights himself), but it is hard to deny his resume at lightweight. His wins are looking very good right now and he has improved a lot in short time.

I think Olivera's 2 year 7 fight streak is just as worthy. I wouldn't mind seeing a #1 contender fight with them.

But we know that (assuming the Justin vs khabib happens as planned on the current date) we’re almost a year away from the next bout. So, in that year I feel like he’s going to have to do more to maintain his spot.
