Honestly, this sport is a crapshoot. There's no such thing as a huge underdog in MMA.

Aside from a few dominant fighters, everyone in this sport is on a carousel. Titles change hands like crazy (the heavyweight belt has never been defended more than twice)...there are way too many variables in each fight... people do things that are just insane and ridiculous to give the fight to their opponent...it's just too chaotic.

There is no such thing as a huge underdog, nor a huge upset, in MMA. Unless you're going to put a woman's bantamweight in with a male heavyweight. Between people in the same weight class who are within a dozen ranking spots...I don't even think there's such a thing as beating someone 9 out of 10 times. It's just a damn crapshoot so often.

Is MMA the sport most suitable to the commonly used phrase "anything can happen"? It certainly feels like it to me and I love it.

I could never see Leslie Smith KOing Cyborg.

That's why Jones and gsp are goat

So you're saying Bisping cost you a shitton of money?

Gnihihi

Cyborg is a wild puncher, don't be shocked at all if someone LNP's her or a striker like Shevchenko or Holm dismantles her.

I might take up mma then, nice to know my chances of winning a belt are pretty high according to u ts

I disagree, its about matchups tho, so rankings don't always work...

Certain fighters will never beat their opponents though...

Faber will never beat the current version of Dominick (Seriously)
Conor will never beat Nate
Leslie will never beat Cyborg
Ronda will never beat Holm
Meisha would never beat the old rousey

Its not a crap-shoot its matchups

There have rightfully been +800, +900, +1000 underdogs in UFC, but those are really rare. You are right in a sense that people use the word "huge upset" way too lightly in this sport, not just fans but journalists aswell. There are simply nothing really "upsetting" if some +400 dog wins his fight (I saw Bisping was +375 dog vs Luke on some site), 15-20% probability is still a relatively good chance for the underdog.

It really puts champs like Anderson, GSP and Aldo into perspective.

Then the floor would have beaten Cyborg

They are not named Leslie Smith.
Unfortunately we can't run the fight 10 more times. So we can only declare one way or the other.

You'd have to win 10+ fights in a row, and even if you have a 20% chance of winning each fight, you have around a 1-in-10-million chance of doing that. So no. Learn a bit about probability.

its an interesting sport how a guy 5x better can lose
flukes happen
