It seems to me many in this forum do not understand the business model of 'pandering' to a customer base which means looking out at who your buying audience is comprised of and trying to give them content that would appeal to them.
To me, that 'pandering' is simply Capitalism and a necessary part of success in these models. Bollywood Producers will produce material that primarily appeals to the indian and male buyer, with smaller amounts of content appealing to women and then people who are not Indians.
Hollywood, for over 100+ years produced content mainly directed at a white male buying audience and as the number of women and PoC buyers (see now a specific chinese focus) the number of Producers who will provide content to these growing cohorts will also grow.
We have people on this web site, who decry any such content directed clearly at mostly women buyers or PoC as 'woke and wrong to do'. We have a Mod here, who says it is racist to do that,as they are using race as a consideration, and thus by default, the only material produced should remain directed at the white male buyers primarily.
How is it that so many people are unable to see that Entertainment Producers HAVE ALWAYS and WILL ALWAYS, look out at the buying audience and pander and that is ok. It is Capitalism? How is it some come to the conclusion that is is sexism or racism to do so?
Do you recall the days of black face in movies? Men playing women's roles? White males (and women) playing the roles of PoC of actual historical people? That was all part of an era of Hollywood believing the buying audience would be more receptive to the content, if they knew the white male actor playing that role. It is simply part of the industry and always was.
