She did a few body kicks and a few Oblique kicks, but she didn't use enough. She should have used that side kick to the body that she usually throws. She used that kick against Nikki Knudsen and Nikki started screaming out in pain because of how powerful the kick was and then Holly finished her.

Most of Cyborg's opponents just hit her in the face, but Cyborg can take a shot. They should hit her in the body: that's the only way they're going to slow her down, in my opinion.

Agreed. It is kinda risky since Cyborg will probably counter with an overhand (combo), but since the 1-2 combo's were obviously not working she should have switched at the end of round 2 / beginning round 3 imo.

And risk getting taken down by Cyborg?

Do you imagine what would’ve happened to Holly and her lacking ground game if Cyborg took top posiiiiish on her???

Holly did exactly what she planned. She ran and hoped that she could get lucky and have two of three judges GIVE her three rounds, which would require that she look good for three minutes in three different rounds. It almost worked. BTW, I posted this before the fight.

Holly has gone 4-4 in the UFC. Not sure why people thought she had much of a chance against Cyborg.

She did about as well as I thought she would. I'm honestly surprised that Cyborg wasn't a lot more aggressive. Ironically she seemed to be focusing on counterstriking. Poor Holly, she has to push the action even against Cyborg.

*Thinks about upset over Rhonda and realizes Rhonda didn't have the level of striking and chin of Cyborg*

Holly should have done the thing she needed to do to win the fight.

I don't think Cyborg would have been able to block the body shots. She had her hands up the whole time to defend against Holly's head kick.

Holly should have hit her with more shots in general lol. Her striking accuracy was 19%

True but it is a risk. Cyborg on top of Holly would have been a brutal finish.

Yep she was trying to win by points but failed hard, those judges were dumb as hell though so if she did just a little bit more she may have gotten the decision.

Rushing Holly plays right into Holly's strengths. She made Holly initiate and countered the shit out of her for it. Shev did the same thing. Cyborg fought a solid fight. Good game plan. Some fighters you can't blitz. Holly is one of those fighters.

Holy was given round 1 and round 2 by two judges: regarding significant strikes landed Holly lost round 1 by 16-5 and round 2 by 21-4.

Again, her strategy was to get two out of three judges to gift her the fight. Fight enough in three minutes of three different rounds and hope for the best. She didn't want to exchange any more than necessary to create the illusion necessary to be gifted the fight. She won two rounds by landing 9 punches.

my advice to Holly going into it would have been to win the fight...

Headmovent instead of charging in with the left.

Mixing up her strikes and feints body shots hooks uppercuts. Closing angles

Push kicks

Also she pushed the fight to much.. she have looked to counter cyborg but instead cyborg was the counter striker

I expected Holly to counter more but she actually pressed the fight (until her eye got swelled), gave Cyborg a nice bloody nose. If Holly can take her 5 rounds I wonder if the 135 pound Champ Amanda Nunes can. Sure hits harder than Holm (supposedly according to Miesha)

She was too busy ISHing, hoping in and out telegraphing arm punches and holding against the cage to do that..

That's why you kick full power right into the forearms, you can't catch a kick if you're blocking it with the arms, nor can you counter with punches since your arms are blocking the kicks. You can't block kicks forever without your arms getting broken and you also lose punching power as your arms get damaged from blocking hard kicks.

Holly basically needed to do this:
