There is a ton of demand for Women's Bantamweights at the moment so Holly Holm's people have had some difficulty finding her opponents, Legacy too for that matter.

Personally, my money is on the 40 year old 6-6 woman who wasn't a world champion boxer and hasn't fought in 2 years.

If she manages to submit Holm, though, it'll be great.

I hear that they are having a lot of difficulty finding Holm fights. Apparently like 5 people turned the fight down before they finally found this 6-6 chick.

That's the reason they are offering such a disproportionate pay day.

I notice they gave up on the winning record part.

I'd say one more performance like her last and she is ready for the big time for sure.

It's going to be hard for her to find fights if she doesn't go to Invicta, if not the UFC right away.

This is what Jackson-Winkeljohn are doing with Holm.

    http://www.abqjournal.com/282539/sports/holm-readies-for-ufc-opportunity.html

They are taking the boxing route with her and padding her record against low level competition to build her brand. The idea is to create a fanbase and excitement for Holm so the UFC pays her a lot more money and bumps her up on the card. Kind of similar to what Cyborg and Tito were attempting and failed with Invicta.

Still, her group has little leverage. Her only goal is UFC and even her people said she will be there in 2014. She didn't leave boxing to fight small time regional MMA. And UFC has to be careful of giving Holm too sweet a contract and then seeing her get taken to the ground by a Carmouche or Braszler and then get killed in her first fight. Despite her management saying only one or two woman in UFC can beat her, Holm is completely untested and a risk. And she is only known by hardcores.

Look at it this way, Alexandra Albu is facing five times the MMA fighter in Julie Kedzie than anyone Holm has fought or is scheduled to fight. No offense, but her fighting Angela Hayes at this point is a joke.

She could of signed with Invicta, but Legacy offered her a lot more. Also, her management likes to control who she fights which isn't possible in Invicta. Again, her goal is to build her value to UFC. UFC will have close to 20 female fighters under contract after they pick up some of the TUF fighters. Invicta only has a handful of 135 fighters now. There are plenty of fights for her in UFC.

Understandable. I don't mind having both independent threads and the official thread.

Having one spot to put general news so people can easily look up information is useful. I don't care for excessive segregation either so if the topic is important enough then it is worthwhile having a separate thread.

I wasn't suggesting choosing Invicta over the UFC, just as an intermediate step, to continue building her brand.

While Ronda took the MMA route, fought champions and kicked everybody's ass.

Gee whiz how could it have failed? Cyborg won every fight. Don't tell me Tito Ortiz doesn't know what he's doing...

Holly should enter the next season of TUF is ladies are in it. She would have done real well. Looks like really stiff competition in this fight. :icon_lol: j/k

What Ortiz messed up on was not taking the UFC offer to let Cyborg fight in Invicta(on UFC's dime) a few times as she worked on getting down 135. With the UFC forking the bill for Dolce to help her. Plus she'd have Zuffa's fighter insurance.

That is the reason why Dana's say shit about Tito/Cyborg. They offered a hell of a lot more to her then they had to just about any fighter in the past to get her to sign.

Just watched that disgusting KO she received against Anne Sophie Mathis.

Anybody know if Winkeljohn and Jackson were in her corner for that fight?

Crazy the corner let it continue. She looked like a zombie hanging in the ropes and they just let the beating continue.

I speculate after her Legacy contract is done, she will take up 1 or 2 fights in Invicta before going to the UFC. I simply do not believe they will be able to find decent challenges for her on their own since the better women are tied up in organizations.

Regarding Aleksandra, she is more developed (skill-wise) than Holly at this stage. "Stitch" will be debuting with a very balanced skillset including good striking, judo and fair submissions.

I threw up a bit every time I hear Winkeljohn lamenting about not able to find quality opponents for Holm in Legacy FC.

Reminds me of this guy I knew who moved out to the boonies and then whine about not having fiber optic internet and LTE wireless coverage. Like, no shit Sherlock!

Would this be considered "quality" opponent?

    Interesting choice.
