After Max's botched weight cut against Khabib last minute, do you guys think this will affect Max's cut for Ortega or his performance in any major way?

Seems like Holloway's camp keeps hinting towards a move to '55, Max probably wants it a lot more than he's letting on.

Also, if Max defends his title against Ortega successfully. Do you think he will inevitably move up in his next fight? Or do you think it will take a few more at '45? He's kinda cleared the division prior to winning the belt.

First question is a big day nope.
2nd, I think he defends one more then moves up... Unless something comes up and he gets a big fight at 155 after Brian

Max wants to move up badly. He keeps talking about moving up and you can see it on the scale when he weighs in. The weight cutting is getting to him. He just said a few days ago that after he beats Ortega, he definitely wants to talk to Dana about fighting for that 155 strap. He said it somewhat jokingly, but he's been talking about moving up for a while now.

I am concerned about both fighters making weight. That is if Max genuinely was having an issue making 155 when pulled by the "commision". Ortega popped for a diuretic PRIOR to the IV ban, and he is noticeably larger now. My concern level is much higher than it should be considering both guys track record of making weight.

He's still so young and definitely won't be at 145 much longer

Oh shit, I'm a black belt now.

<DCWhoa>

Belt hasn't changed color tho

<Huh2>

If he got offered a title shot at LW or maybe a no 1 contender fight against e.g. Ferguson, he would happily take it. But probably not If only the likes of Barboza or Poirier are available.

This is middleweight fighting middleweight . its actually friggin moronic that these guys are both cutting 50 lbs when they can just fight at their normal weight. They are probably walking around at same weight around 195lbs

I think that's why he put his name in the hat when Nurmagomedov needed an opponent. It seemed like a strange decision at the time as it wasn't so long after he pulled out of the Edgar fight and I remember him doing an interview a couple of weeks (prior to stepping in) that he needed surgery.

Now his name is linked with fighting Nurmagomedov or whoever is the 155 Champion when he decides to go up to LW - 'yeah, I was due to fight for the 155 belt, but couldn't cut the weight in time' etc. Boom. There's his meal ticket to getting a title shot possibly.

He has contenders like Zabit,Stephens,Elkins,Edgar but his days at 145 are numbered.I see maximum 2 fights for him at 145.

I see max going for a super fight and keeping the 45 strap if he loses to ortega hes gonna rematch or move up hard one to guess all we know is hes here to fight and hel prolly be trying to redeem that loss but i dont see ortega staying 45 both guys want a kabeeb fight

Full Camp... should be no problem. But would love to see him and Ortega at 155...

I'm getting the feeling that if he gets past Ortega dominantly without question he is gonna sit and leverage for a LW shot kinda like the guys were saying before me.

Possibly this is his last featherweight fight. I don't think poor Frankie is enough to keep Max down at '45. Plus all the marquee fights are '55 now.
