I like it
It’s been done on a few boxing matches overseas, I believe...
But it could lead to fighters ahead on the cards to go into bicycle mode if they see that they’re opponents can only win via stoppage.
for clarity, I just want to specify that “overseas” meant outside of the states.
My ignorant American self forgot, for a moment, that Sherdog is not just limited to us.
I agree, but the public shouldn’t see the scores until the fight is over. They should be entered in a device with a time stamp proving the score and the time it was entered.
But, but, but, how are they gonna rigg it then?
Should have been done a long time ago. To much money involved.
I'm convinced some of these motherfuckers don't even score it round by round. They just sit there and then score all the rounds retroactively, going on memory and personal biases. There's no way Joe Solis scored that fight round by round. He probably wasn't paying attention and just arbitrarily scored the rounds after the 5th.
Im pretty sure they did it in the us as wel briefly. Maybe 15-20+ years ago. I remember a few hbo cards where they would announce the scores to the crowd.
it was a bad idea.
They were talking about this post fight.
I'm just surprised joe didn't mention the Eddie bravo scorecard
Or score the fights different not using a 10 point system. Give points for positive actions and minus for bad behavior. Scores can be interim recorded each round.
How would that change things? It wouldn't lol.
10 point system is good. The judges are just bad
I don’t think you need to change much apart from who is judging the fights. Get competent people in and it can work.
Max must have CTE
Will never happen.
It doesn't work. Ruins all the drama at the end too. As much as it can suck, that judges decision drama at the end is a part of the sport. Bad decision-making shouldn't be. They need to train these judges better and penalise them if they mess up consistently (could be multiple times on a single event).
Honestly, I don't think it's personal bias as much as something else, more shady. I mean, why risk your job being that overtly wrong if your not getting rewarded for it?
That will never happen in MMA because it will expose the incompetentance and corruption that plagues MMA from the "judges" that are never accountable for the decisions they make.
Iv seen it in boxing problem is fighters start coasting
No thanks. You will have guys up the first 2 rds running from a fight in the 3rd
You think they're getting paid? Aw man I don't think I'd be able to watch mma any more if that was true.
The only issue is we're thinking about how the fighter who's losing will up the pace and go for it
Don't forget the fighter who knows they just need to survive and his going to coast and stall for 5 minutes
Separate names with a comma.
