Hilarious how some people use the Mendes fight as the deciding factor for Khabib

Less strikes but more meaningful ones
Defensive shoulder roll
Combos when punching
Use of JAB
Way less spinning shit
Better set ups for counters, pokes the head out more a la overeem
Punishes body with teep
Lol do he didn’t possess any these skills in the first Nate fight? C’mon man. You do NOT believe that. If you believe Kavanaugh Conor just got lazy before the first Nate fight and wasn’t taking things serious and was banking on a KO because of it. He didn’t learn all that after Nate choked him out. He just quit being lazy and actually followed a game plan.

The knee thing again

<41>

Was it his knee when Nate made him quit or hand him turning his back and running away?

Was it his knee when floyd carried him and then stopped him when he was tired of carrying a bum?

He beat Aldo who was considered one of the GOATs. Then Eddie for lw then took a fight to earn 100mil for one fight and the UFC stripped him. So he beat 2 real champions. And then got the fight of his life in Floyd. You want him to not take that fight and insted defend his belt for 98% less pay?
Aldo got starched by a lucky punch. Eddie beat a champ on his way out of the division due to weight cutting and has always been overhyped. A legit GOAT wouldn't go 1-1 with a journeyman fighter like Diaz. His resume as a whole is lacking. Look at Conor's last 10 fights. Aldo is literally the only praiseworthy fighter on his list. Khabibs beat 5 monsters and legit competitions including one that went on to be a champ. If anything Khabibs resume is a better than Conors.

Conor is worse on the ground than Khabib is on the feet. By a lot.

Not even remotely true.

I've seen white belts with similar scrambles. Other than with that ONE scramble with Diaz and whoever that guy in his amateur days is the others aren't strong grapplers like Khabib, also Mendes damn near consistently took him down and pieced him up nitpicking a couple of favorable exchanges doesn't say much.

edit; oh wait I just noticed Holloway there too that was a good fight.

Also Conor's been taken down ALOT and we haven't seen him evolve his TDD

He's only been taken down in 6 times in 10 UFC fights lol, and has stopped like 20 TDs. The majority came from Mendes, where it's clear as day Conor didn't care about some of those takedowns (like literally starting the fight with a flying knee).

Diego Brandao is a 2nd degree BJJ black belt, Mendes is an All-American who has submitted Jeff Glover in submission grappling, Diaz is a 2nd degree BJJ black belt, and the last guy is a Gracie lol

Let's break it down out of the last 10 fight 7 were primarily strikers and 3(Mendes, Diaz and Alvarez) were "grapplers" who preferred to strike. Mendes is the only that actually consistently went after it. Are you seriously gonna say someone like Siver or Brimage is on the same level as Mendes or Khabib? No, just... no. An out of shape Mendes, unexplosive, and barely ready took him down consistently, feinting a takedown is not the same as going for one. In their fight he only went for 8 maybe 9 seriously takedowns the rest were half hearted and after he'd already gassed. IMO Conor's weakest and less evolved game is his TDD 2nd maybe his gas tank.

Dude, having a bjj black belt doesn't mean you can wrestle. One of the best guys at the last desert quest I was at is a wrestler who barely trains in bjj yet he's submitted countless "black belts". Wrestling > bjj when it comes to mma look what happens to the Diaz brothers when fighting wrestlers and they're highly decorated black belts. Granted Conor's got some skills but I don't see him out scrambling or wrestling out of anything Khabib's shown.

Two reasons.

1) McGregor tore his ACL a couple weeks before the fight. For all you tubby lards, this is as serious knee injury as it gets, you lose all stability on that knee. Generally takes 12 months of proper rehab and training and it never really is the same. This is a significant factor in why mendes could take conor down.

2) This one is very important. McGregors game has changed quite a bit since that fight, he is nowhere near the same fighter and has completely refined his game (cheers diaz).

Output has decreased quite a bit, no more balls to the wall with a variety of strikes, he picks shots and uses the same ones over and over and throws a spin kick sparingly. Conors abiltiy to adapt to his strengths has been remarkable and his TDD has improved by a mile as proven in the alvarez fight (Inb4 retard haters bring up Diaz fight while not realising conors style has also changed afterthe diaz fights, now adding COMBOS to his crisp punches as well).

Conor is going to crack khabib with his superior striking and its gonna get nasty early. Khabib may survive but given how rudimentary his standup is khabib will likely panic and shoot from the hip.

TLDR

Healthy, refined game conor is nowhere near the same fighter as he was against Mendes and drawing conclusions from that fight is STUPID
Bookies have him as the underdog, so bet on him and post the slip if you believe in your reasoning.

Could you imagine how Khabib vs Mendes would go down LoL, Mendes would get big bro’d in there

Conor has 10x the resume of Khabibs padded record with russian no names. Max Aldo Eddie Mendes Dustin. All these guys are top 5 in the divison they fight in. Where are Khabibs opponents? Only RDA is in top 5 so shut the fuck up punk.

Yep. Everyone also forgets, every fighter conor has ever faced in the UFC gets hit early and often. Every time.
And once he started hitting guys his own size, he stopped getting first round knockouts. Crazy huh?

Johnson is a no name? Barboza? Tavares? Tibau? Sorry, Khabib didn't fight a no camp Mendes or an "elite level" Siver. Pop that Conor realdoll rubber cock out your mouth for a second and go look at facts dipshit.

Lol why you Colin fans try justify his shit performance against mini 2 week Mendes is beyond me. If the ACL was as bad as you fanboys made it out to be he wouldn't have been cleared to fight.

Just because he didn't KO Mendes in the 1st exchange doesn't mean he had trouble because of said tore ACL that came up AFTER the shit performance.

Excuses my son, Mendes owned Colin that fight. Deal with It.

Can't wait to bump this thread once mcnuggets gets ragdolled haha

It would be post MayMay levels of salt. But doubt knock Conor he's got a real chance of winning, about a 35-40% chance.

Other fighters besides Mendes have got Conor to the ground. And others have made him their prison bitch once they got him there. Khabib is about the best there is at getting people to the ground and making them his prison bitch.

I'd say it's a legitimate train of thought.
