I know a lot of people here at sherdog like to talk about wmma fights not being highly skilled, so I'm curious what fights you guys think are the exception to the rule?

My two picks are

Joanna/claudia 1: I'm excited for the rematch coming up, and I really think this was the most evenly matched, highly skilled wmma fight I've seen, as you had a world champ kickboxer with good ground vs a bjj world champ with good striking.

Miesha tate/Julie kedzie: miesha is a warrior with a grinding wrestling style and good subs, while kedzie has that Jackson wink striking and decent grappling. It was a war with Kedzie dropping tate but then getting caught in a Hail Mary armbar, showing how tough tate is.

Honestly, the two you named are the only ones I can think of.

And probably are the only two that could be considered high skilled fights in wmma.

I enjoy them. As for the opinions of others...

Glad to see Kedzie vs Tate in the op. Super under appreciated fight!

Any Holm fight. Any Joanna fight. Wish these girls had more decent comp though

Joanna vs. Valerie was a very high level striking match. Some of the setups and combinations in that fight are very rarely seen in MMA, and the way they both adjusted to find openings was also something that's pretty uncommon.

I was thinking of posting it, but my issues with it are that it was fairly one sided and there was only a bit of grappling in the 1st rd, so it wasn't too well rounded of a fight.
