It's real, but it's not high percentage, able to be practiced or practicle in almost any cituation. A hard enough punch to the head could kill someone too, but it usually won't.

I think the death touch stuff was just that they proved that it's possible to hit someone hard enough in the chest to stop the heart.

This isn't exactly new or anything. I remember hearing about some middle school kids dying recently because of a "gang" initiation ceremony that involved taking repeated full power punches to the chest from the other members without wincing. Apparently it has sent a few kids into cardiac arrest and they died from it.

If you hit someone in the chest very hard at the right moment during their heartbeat cycle (I think it's like 2-3% of the total cycle), you can cause the heart to fibrilate. This is a medical fact and was an old way of resuscitating patients with irregular heartbeats in the hospital.

Of course, being able to do this in a real fight is just about impossible. But from a strictly theoretical standpoint, it is possible to stop someone's heart with a blow.

I also liked the part of the site that talks about the "unbreakable" katana. That's pretty funny because katanas are extremely breakable and delicate. They are probably one of the least robust types of swords that were ever used.
