Herpes gladiatorum

Anyone heard of this or has had it. It is the same form of herpes that causes cold sores but it is common among grapplers.

I don't know anyone with it but it is a good reason to keep as much clothing on as possible while wrestling ... that is some scary shit

I think my friend got this from a wrestling tourament in HS. He was sick for a while and had this really ugly sores on his face. Above all that he couldn't wrestle at Districts.

I heard that it is not curable and that you can but not always have recurrent outbreaks.

yea ive heard about that... happened to a near school of ours, got it at a tourney or some shiz and training for either league finals or CIF.. i forget but they were not allowed to compete(the whole team)

I got this from rugby when I was in high school. There were a bunch of small sores over one pectoral that cleared up after a bit. Never got anything again, and they weren't painful in the first place. I know it was this type of herpes because I got a test at the doctor.
