Here's why more brands, like Nike with Colin Kaepernick, are openly liberal

People seemed to care about slave labor for a few minutes after John Oliver did a segment about the Fashion Industry making billions through exploitation. I guess that is all irrelevant now because Nike is #WOKE and just proved it by supporting Colin Kaepernick.

What does that have to do with OP?

Any thoughts on companies getting more political?

What good does a company "getting more political" do when they are exploiting people and the planet to make billions? It is about as useful as a spoiled multi-millionaire football player taking a knee during the anthem. It is better to be somewhat suspicious and pessimistic when we hear about businesses jumping into bed with politicians. These fucking businesses are making record profits every year while life is getting harder for more and more people. Fuck these businesses and their faux-political bullshit. They have obviously done their market and demographic research and found a strategy that will make even more money in the years to come.

Fuck the Left and their big-business ass-kissing.

That’s easy.

Actually doing the hard work of making a society function is more than the left is cut out for.

It's quick and easy good PR. Virtue signaling is rewarded in all of our facets of culture. If you believe, or just say the rights things you can get away with anything. Nike just bought themselves more decades to exploit children. Shit Obama murdered children by the hundreds and nobody cared all of a sudden. #obamaprez4eva

I reckon most American right-wingers with any sense, would oppose the neo-con politics of the past couple of decades. Because those politics were the equal to what Nike is trying to pull here, corporations and their paid lobbyists hollowly pandering to religious/ethnic identity issues, while hoping that their bullshit, corrupt economic policy goes unnoticed, as they pocket more and more cash for the 0,1%.

Nothing has necessarily changed in that regard, but atleast people are waking up to the idea that it has been happening. What people need to do, is to take the next step and recognize when it is happening in front of their very eyes.
Neocons are open borders , anti America First and co-opt corporate America, but they are also tribal....only when it comes to Israel though.

NIKE is a billion dollar corporation, because they use child slave labor

I’m really glad you support that
Oh, now you care about human rights.

How about worker conditions in your own country? Stop supporting politicians who support right-to-work and at-will employment you fucking hypocrite.

Assume much?

You clearly are supporting this bullshit and NIKE’s child labor record

Child labor is horrendous and many top American corporations survive on the practice of exploiting foreigners. By the way, what clothing brands do you wear? I guarantee they exploit kids like Nike all the same.

Now, are you willing to denounce them all, as well as the politicians who support anti-worker policies in America? Or will you just continue with your fake outrage and only bitch about Nike?

Leftists need to start supporting better human beings. Aggressively defending sickos like James Gunn and wealthy hypocrites like Colin Kaepernick is not winning anybody to their side.

Lefties need to come back over to center because they have swung so far left, it's made me middle right.

They are building a winning coalition!

LOL the guy in the beard on the left looks uncertain about everything.

Hahahaha

The left has literally gone full retard, and you never go full retard

Social leftists are a greater danger to economic progressives, then Republicans are.

We should be talking about Nike's labor practices, not a spoiled fucking millionaire, and a PR campaign.

That doesn’t fit the narrative

I wouldn't say they're a greater threat but all the attention given to say, trannies and their bathroom habits, does nothing but help the opposition of the left. So much so that I presume it's by design.

Ross Douthat on capitalism and feminism which is a fitting article that relates very well to the Left's current drift to excessive free-market capitalism:

The Handmaids of Capitalism

perhaps the simplest way to describe what happened with the surrogacy debate is that American feminists gradually went along with the logic of capitalism rather than resisting it. This is a particularly useful description because it’s happened so consistently across the last few decades: Whenever there’s a dispute within feminism about a particular social change or technological possibility, you should bet on the side that takes a more consumerist view of human flourishing, a more market-oriented view of what it means to defend the rights and happiness of women.

Feminists were divided over surrogacy and commercialized fertility, but the opposition to both practices gradually dissolved, and now only eccentric conservatives notice the weird resemblances between California-style surrogacy practices and the handmaids and econowives of Gilead. They were divided over pornography, often bitterly — but over time the sex-positive side increasingly won out over the Andrea Dworkinish dissenters, even as the online realm was overrun with images and videos that more than justified her arguments. They were, and are, divided over prostitution, but it’s pretty clear that the version of feminism that supports the rights of sex workers to sell their bodies in the marketplace has the intellectual momentum.

...in a broader sense the most culturally important strands of American feminism have been the ones devoted to making women’s lives safe for market capitalism rather than the other way around...

...But the most serious form of cultural conservatism has always offered at most two cheers for capitalism, recognizing that its great material beneficence can coexist with dehumanizing cruelty, that its individualist logic can encourage a ruthless materialism unless curbed and checked and challenged by a moralistic vision.

Something needs to pull our society back from its dehumanizing and commodifying drift. It might yet be a form of feminism — if feminists can stop going with a current that their foremothers wisely attempted to resist.
