Here's what an educated, respectful crowd sounds like.

Throwback to this fight anyways but I noticed how great the crowd is. I wish crowds were more like this in North/South America

North/South American fans respect the sport by giving it money to continue, hence almost all mma revenue in the world coming from those two areas.

I think people often approriate cultural differences to "respect".

I hate silent crowds. There's nothing uneducated or disrespectful about cheering. A lot of audiences are just as knowledgeable and respectful as the Japanese crowds, but they bring an energy that wasn't there in the Japanese fights that I appreciate. Even Brazilian crowds, though they occasionally skirt the line of what's respectful, make events more fun. Especially the big arenas where their cheering is a deafening roar. MMA, like most things, feels more exciting when you hear people being excited about it as it's happening.

So boring, looks like an opera.

I prefer the booing American crowds

Education has absolutely nothing to do with how much sound a crowd is making.

You are incorrect, educated and respectful crows know the intricacies of the sport and the technicalities involved so they provide live play by play instruction, you often hear them shouting.

At least American audiences are still keeping MMA alive, unlike Japanese audiences.

agreed. in korea, old people can and do, butt in front of youths in lines. they also throw elbows to assert their position. i nearly clocked an old man until i was told that it is just how they operate there. i still did not appreciate being elbowed in the belly.

cultural differences are cool.

Sounds like an infomercial crowd

"And look what this can do..."

--- ""ooooooo, aaaaaaah"

"How about if we lower it down to $14.99. What do you say?"

--- "LOWER, LOWER!!!"

Pancrase was sweet. I wish the WWE would have a shoot division with those same rules. I know Brawl for it all fucked things up in the WWF, but they could make it work if they were carefull of who they booked for the works and who they booked for the shoots.

I think they could get by without the athletic commissions with Pancrase rules too.

The American public has a talent for reducing anything to its base level.

All in all, North and South American fans are basically immature, ignorant, and impatient.

The crowds are quieter there but there's also no commentary, which makes an even bigger difference in noise when you're watching a video.

This.

A couple more of my favourite British MMA & Boxing crowds

Japanese crowds have got nothing on that. This isn't drunken violence, this is people who are so impressed by what they are seeing that they want to emulate it.

I do miss the moments when the crowd was silent and then as a fighter would pass guard or get mount the "ohhhhhh!!!" chant would erupt.
