Henry Cejudo might vacate FW title to move BW, may take a break from UFC if not paid ‘like a legend'

Came to save FLW Division....now leaving the belt like it's a turd. Lol FLW can't catch a break.

The FLW division doesn't seem to want to save itself. Cejudo got the ball rolling with defending the division from Dana White's assassin, TJ Dillaroids. Moreover he started the Triple C / Cringe schtick. But he has no dance partners at Flyweight. No one wants to bother selling the fights.

Cejudo is right to forsake that division. He did all he could to save his fellow little people, and no one took the fucking hint.

Good. Finally the end of FLW. I will have to agree, if Henry gives up his FLW belt and Dana gets rid of FLW, Henry truely is a Legend in my book.

Oh look, uneducated morons white-knighting capitalist principles in one breath, then whining about the lack of socialist principles in the next.

Society is embarrassing.

“Eventually I do have to leave a belt,” Cejudo told ESPN. “It’s stressful having to hold up two weight divisions. I don’t want that stress on me. So I am gonna have to choose and both weight classes... 135 seems more appetizing to be quite honest with you. There’s just more color, you don’t have to cut as much weight, but there is a loss on my record against Joe and that stings a little bit.”

“I’ve got two belts. I know what Daniel (Cormier) makes. I don’t want to get into it because it’s a conversation I’m gonna have to have with my boss and the organization,” Cejudo continued. “I’m a legend man, and I’ve got to start hitting those numbers like a legend. My legacy is written and it’s still being written. To say, at least, I want a number. I want a number and there’s options in there for me. Take a break from the sport...”

And when people ask why Conor was bad for the sport, THIS is why. Everyone trying to capture multiple belts to use as hostages. 125 being backstabbed is bad enough but 135 has went through enough shit where it doesn't need Henry holding the belt hostage.

Do these MMA fighters not understand simple economics principles?

There is no conspiracy or evil plan to underpay them. If they were worth what they think they're worth, the UFC would pay them it.

Actually the share of profits ufc keeps vs fighters is crazy compared to other sports.

Only time I've been interested in 125 is after Henry won the belt and was definitely interested in the Dillishaw and Moraes fight. He definitely brought a few eyes. Time for him to get paid.

It appears as if many of you subscribe to the communist theory of the surplus value of labor. I don't wanna write a thesis here refuting that, I will simply refer you to the historical success of communist societies.

Many of you say the UFC should pay CCC moar, but how much is "fair"? Can you please quantify it and how you arrived at that number? What data do you have on his marginal revenue generation? Many Sherdoggers say the UFC is an evil robber baron monopoly, but what method do you propose for increasing fighter pay? A union? Government intervention? Which government?

Finally, it's important to understand the concept of synergies when it comes to entertainment products. CCC could literally fight Marlon in ONE and perform the exact same finish but it would be worth less to consumers because of the less prestigious title. On the flip side the UFC needs a majority of top fighters, but not all, to maintain it's "elite" brand.
When you mix CCC's skills with the UFC brand you get a value more than the sum of its parts. But one of those parts is more persistent and valuable, and that's what grants them negotiating power. Nobody gives a shit if a fight takes place under the Golden Boy banner, that's why Canelo gets a higher cut, because his value is a much bigger part of the draw.

If you disagree that's fine, but please be specific about what you think is "fair", and how to go about getting it.

I wish sherdog would just shut the fuck up already about fighter pay and just start a gofundme if they're so damn concerned over it.

I used to like this guy. I thought DJ shouldve walked out of arena with belt still around waist[ politics] .Cejudo did follow that up with 2 epic wins( one of them controversial) and now hes Floyd Mayweather. .....
.....no, lol - no

Who forces any full grown athlete to play any sport?

Nobody... but they still have the right to negotiate, unionize and "fight" for what they think they deserve

Henry has leverage and he should use it. The UFC cannot cut him and dissolve 2 divisions without there being major blowback

Lol, nobody gives a fuck about those divisions

He's a 2 division champ? Literally had no idea. And that unfortunately is the problem with small weight classes, we dont care.

FW is Featherweight
FLW is Flyweight

Him vs Benavidez is a very good rematch IMO. It's a bummer. Joe Jitsu already knocked out the #3 and #2 guys in his divison so what? He just gets the title now?
