Nowadays judges need to see blood and teeth flying out of your mouth and will punish anything that does not coincide with this view. Hendricks put on a very good display of wrestling which resulted in Magny spending 12 out of 15 minutes on his back not knowing what to do. Upon a second viewing, you can clearly see that Hendricks managed to land a few decent elbows and strikes, more than could be said of Magny's two unsuccessful attempts to submit him and a few elbows.

it would have helped the case if Hendricks didn't allow himself to almost get triangled twice

I was a little surprised by the decision but not outraged. Hendricks game plan was basically to push Magny against the cage and stall or work for a takedown and then stall. Other than stalling in the clinch he did next to nothing and it cost him.

I believe losing the title was the end of the world in Hendricks head. We have had those moments bad shit happened and we thought it was over so never wanted it as bad again. Ronda is the same. We seen it a lot.

The decision was a little wacky for sure but Hendricks really didn't do much. He sat on a few takedowns. That really shouldn't be enough to win a fight.

    Very good display of wrestling?

He did nothing with the takedowns, while Magny was active from his back. Nice to see the judges reward that for a change.

I won't even mention missing weight.

When you miss weight the judges take that into consideration and fuck you for it. Thats what happened to Hendricks. He needs to fight at 185 or retire.

henricks is a impressive but slightly broken fighter.
this guy is tuff but i think one of the reasons for the loss is his overweight.

  16. Everyone hates and wants to rag on Hendricks so everyone will just let it slide. He clearly won that fight.

It's actually the exact opposite. Hendricks wrestled. Magny fought an MMA fight.

As Magny said, he got the better of the striking and the grappling, Hendricks got the better of the wrestling.

It was a close fight, and far from a barn burner, but Magny gave the better all round performance. With the triangles, Magny also came much closer to finishing the fight than Hendricks did.

I love it when judges score fights like that. Wrestling and top control are important, but not the be all and end all of the fight. You could tell Hendricks thought his takedowns were enough. He was wrong.

  19. And failed submission attempts are enough to win a fight?

I don't know how accurate these stats are:
    www.fightmetric.com:8081/events/fight-info/6398/

If they are legit, than Magny landed more strikes and had 2 submission attempts while Hendricks only had those takedowns. Outside of that, nothing really happened.
