    Hemp Seed Oil
    From Juli Kight,

A beneficial oil with legal risks.
Next time you are looking for a beneficial oil for either internal or topical use, consider hemp oil.

Medicinal uses for hemp plant seed extend as far back as the Ming Dynasty. It's Chinese name is Ma Zi (hemp plant seed). It is often used for degenerative conditions and inflammatory disorders of the intestine. (See Ancient Chinese Cannabis Preparations and Recipes). The history of Chinese cannabis use includes several varieties from sub species indica (low levels of THC - delta9-tetrahydrocannabinol) to sub species sativa (high levels of THC) (see Taxonomy of Chinese Cannabis).

Hemp oil contains a high level of polyunsaturated essential fatty acids while ranging in the lowest levels of saturated fats. An analysis shows that it contains:

    %56.9 Linoleic Acid

    %18.9 Linolenic Acid

%1.7 Gamma Linolenic Acid (commonly known as Omega-6)

    Analysis of Hemp Seed Oil

    Moisture 19%
    Vitamin A 8,700 IU / pound
    Vitamin E <1 mg / 100g
    Phosphatides 0.03%
    Chlorophyll 6 ppm
    Fat Stability AOM 5 hours
    Free Fatty Acid 0.94%
    Insoluble Matter 0.01%
    Iodine Value 166.5
    Peroxide Value 7.0 meg/kg
    Saponification Value 192.8
    Specific Gravity 0.9295 at 20 C
    Unsaponifiable Matter 0.28%
    Smoke Point 165 C
    Flash Point 141 C
    Melting Point (-8C)

The oil also contains the natural anti-oxidant vitamin E and sterols which blocks cholesterol absorption.

Unrefined hemp oil can be used for cooking in place of olive or safflower oils. It has a unique nutty flavor and adds EFA.'s (essential fatty acids) as well as other nutrients to your diet.

Refined oil is a more clear and lighter which is beneficial for use in making soaps, body and aromatherapy products.

Hemp products come with a risk. Today's hemp products imported for the commercial market in the United States have been bred supposedly to carry extremely low levels of THC if any, however, there is controversy as to how hemp oil consumption interferes with drug testing. Canadian officials require testing of products to make sure the THC level is below 10 parts per million. It is rumored that the United States plans on placing a zero tolerance for any level of THC in hemp products. I have not been able to turn up any set laws at the writing of the feature, only controversial articles and petition information.

I have 5 pounds of hemp protein.

Very grainy but I throw it in with some greens and it combines well.

Would you guys recommend hemp protein over say Muscle Milk?

Just wondering if anyone has supplemented with it long term and has noticed the results.

    I wouldn't recommend it.

You wouldn't want to take protein anymore cause it tastes like shit.

    It doesn't come flavored.
