Hey guys, newbie to the sweet science currently starting my second month of training. I'm a tall long guy, really focusing on my straight punching, been watching a lot of classically excellent boxers like Finito Lopez and Alexis Arguello.

My question is for those more experienced in the sweet science: can you talk to me about what should be happening with my weight distribution, head, footwork etc as I transition between the jab and cross? Most instruction focuses on the form of one or the other without really talking about the mechanics or form of flowing them together.

Current problems I seem to be having include not knowing if the two punches should be aimed at different target zones, and feeling like following up too soon with the cross is making me lean forward and be out of position.

Also any videos of really beautifully executed 1-2s would be fantastic.

Thanks a lot

If you and your opponent are orthodox, you push the right hand of the opponent off his face and immediately connect with the right hand punch, this is real one-two

Look at some of the threads about weight distribution around here especially by Sinister.

Shadowbox a lot.

Listen to rhythmic music while doing so, i.e. salsa, jazz, muay thai ring instrumentals, etc.

Combination punching, kicking, elbowing, kneeing, is about staying in tempo with a beat.
