Well I suck at drawing. It's just a cylinder. I'm beginning to think people are right in that I'm misremembering it. Ive looked through all the suggestions and none are it.

Yeah, I looked over wikipedia's list of animated movies from 1970-1999 and didn't see anything that looked like it would have what was described. Admittedly, I did pretty simple google image searches, but I'm assuming that if this robot was a key plot point it would have shown up.
