Im 18, been training Muay Thai for a year and a half. I was recently supposed to have my first fight March 6th and the whole event got cancelled due to low entry numbers. I live basically in the middle of nowhere western Maryland and have to drive a hour just to train, but am willing to travel as far as DC, Pittsburg, Columbus or Richmond for a fight. My coach said if I can find something and he approves, he thinks Im ready. So if anyone knows of a promoter or tournament near or within a reasonable driving distance from western Maryland that has amateur Muay Thai or K1 rules , PLEASE let me know!

If your coach thinks your ready he will find you a fight. If he really says you are ready but can't find you a fight id look to train at another gym. Have you ever fought before? If not I usually start out my students with an in house fight at another gym!

I just don't think he or my gym really has the best connections for finding fights that's why Im kind of looking for myself. It seems like maybe only 10% of the people at my gym are active fighters and they are mostly boxers or compete in mma and can find events easily. Id look for another gym, but there is very limited options in my area. I'm not sure if it'd be feasible to drive 2 hours to a better gym 2-3 times a week to train. Maybe I'll mention an in house fight with another gym to him and see what he thinks.

You can always look up your local Muay Thai organization. Like we have "Muay Thai Ontario" here in Canada. You can register as a fighter and you get calls from promoters if they need someone your weight and class. There's should be a Muay Thai Organization in your area or in the closest major city! Just call them and explain your situation, they are ALWAYS looking for new fighters for cards and it's awesome to start networking!! My last piece of advice is call gyms around the area yourself and ask about in houses or which organization they fight under!

Best of Luck
