I feel like shit. I cant get off this BS junk food. I dont wanna see him like a pussy but i honeslty can NOT get off the coke and junk food. I work out alot but im gaining weight. I feel like shit and i want some help. Im looking to shed about 10 pounds as soon as possible without taking away muscle. I start Standup, Bjj and weights this week. Can anyone help.

well, rather than read books on weight loss, read a good book on mental discipline. Conquer that and you are there. You can pick up your cardio to a ridiculous level, so it doesn't matter what you eat (but you will tend to start eating more).

My advice is to go cold turkey for around two weeks. Nothing but fruit & veges. (Lean meats if you want) and water. The more healthy it is the easier it will be at the end. After about two weeks (if you haven't slipped up) you will have lost the taste for junk food. The important part is to make sure you eliminate the situations and influences that tempt you. You also need to make sure you don't have any in the house and that you don't get hungry (or you will fuck up, and if you fuck up, you revert back to the start)

I went thru this, so PM if you have questions. Although if by coke, you mean the shit that goes up your nose, I can't help you.

Grow a spine. If you have a problem with junk food, don't buy it. You're less likely to eat it if it isn't in your kitchen. I've been on a strict wrestlers' diet since birth, but if there's a cake in the kitchen, I'm gonna eat it. Remove your temptations and learn to love cooking healthy food. If you aren't cooking 95% of your meals, you probably aren't eating very healthy. Buy a cook book and ditch the crap. You gotta take care of your body man, you only get one.

-good advice, I myself have become an amatuer cook and this has increased my options for eating; right now i fry everything in alittle Xtra-virgin olive oil which is good for you.
-eat every 2-2.5 hours, a small handful of nuts is good if you are on the run
-allow yourself 2 cheat days in the beginning, after eathing healthy for over a year now i get sick on my cheat day and can't wait to get back to eathing healthy...
-make small changes at a time, dieting never works

you whine a lot

thats a good place to start

Oh man, I felt the exact same way on Saturday night. I had gone to a bar on the way to a fight on Saturday and had a good time and everything but I was just out of control with what I was eating and stuff. Ugh...I felt sick.

It's all about your will.
Where there is a will there is a way.
There's gonna be times where you have to lose weight to fight and/or for other reasons.
If you "can NOT get of junk food", then you shouldn't be fighting.

yeh i feel sick when i eat junkfood/high sugar foods now too, i get a headache and feel sick in the stomach and lethargic. Give me broccoli and spinach anyday

If you don't have it upstairs dude, you sure as hell won't find it on Sherdog. You answered your own question in the thread.

Like everyone else said it's a mental game. You have to have the self discipline to choose healthy foods over shit.

Its all mental,

I spent years saying I should I should.

Right now I'm saying I am, and because of that I find it super easy to stick with my plan so far (given its still early in the plan) and feel very confident I will reach my goals.

Mental, by reading the fourms you can get a basic idea of what you have to do.

Well, if you are starting some kind of striking art, bjj and weights, then the weight should come off on it's on to a certain extent, which all pertains to your diet. I know what position you're in. HAha I even went so far as to keep a picture Bruce Lee and another fighter in my wallet, along with a picture of this chic I know, who I always wanted to get with, who is amazingly hot. Motivation. haha

birth?

Drink lots of water and keep healthy food on hand for snacking.......mental choice is the only way to drop the junk food....you have to quit eating it.

Working out makes me want to eat better. Don't know why, but it does. I think a good workout where you sweat refreshes you and inspires to eat good.

Remember as an everyday person just be good 80% of the time. Use the 20% to eat a granola bar, pizza or whatever, but within a reasonable amount.

I'd say start with the drinks and then work to the food. Drink water, tea, crystal light (no diet sodas) to avoid the sodas and juices. You'll find that over time you won't like the taste of them. I usually drink some juice or soda about 1-2x month.
