champs in every division are the tallest they ever been with exception of HW and fake champ Daniel Cormier

LHW current champ Jon Jones, taller than Liddell, Shogun, Machida, all past champs
MW current champ Rockhold taller than Anderson Silva, Weidman, Rich Franklin, Evan Tanner
WW current champ Robbie Lawler, taller than GSP, Hendricks, Matt Hughs
LW current champ RDA, taller than BJ Penn, Edgar, Sherk, Pulver, just as tall as Pettis
FW current champ McGregor, taller than Aldo

Everyone is cutting weight to fight midget, this is getting to be an epidemic

Combine this with the fact that between Aldo vs. McGregor till Mar 8, whenever there was a 2 inch difference in height the TALLER fighter was 33-9 against he shorter fighter. The shorter guy wins less than a quarter of the time.

This is getting out of control. Height is too much to overcome in MMA when skills are comparable

I don't disagree but if you can make the weight than it really doesn't matter.

Cole Miller, future FW champ

Struve never fought tall and was criticized for it his entire career.

I've always hated this example.
cause it's a dumb fucking strawman argument that you have to be a mongoloid to make

Rda is the same height as Benson according to wiki, which happens to be the same as BJ.

Robbie isn't significantly taller than GSP, both are 5'10 1/2-5'11

RDA is clearly shorter than McGregor, 5'8 is not taller than BJ, Bendo, or Pettis

Miesha is shorter than Holly and 1/2 inch taller than Ronda

HW and LHW already mentioned, so half the champs are tall lol.

There's probably a sweet spot to be reached, taller and skinnier isn't going to be better at a given weight class forever. Someone like Jessamyn Duke is a terrible size for her division cause she has to give up all her strength to make it.

RDA is shorter than the previous champions
Lawler is also on the short side for WW
Cormier just beat two taller contenders in Rumble and Gus

Has anyone ever claimed that height/reach are not an advantage in combat sports? They have stated those physical stats at the beginning of every match ever for a reason.

It is only true for LHW and MW but Jones is a freak, he would be champ at HW too and Rockhold has no title defense yet.

On the other hand Condit was 3 inches taller than Lawler and Pettis 1 inch taller than RDA.

Look at the weights of the LHW champs starting from Frank Shamrock:
5'10 - F.S.
6'3 - T.O.
6'0 - R.C.
6'0 - V.B.
6'2 - C.L
6'1 - Q.J
6'3 - F.G.
5'11 -R.E.
6'1 - L.M.
6'1- M.R.
6'4 -J.J
5'11- D.C.

I don't really see a pattern there.

That's why Carwin was never champ. He was getting shorter and champs are supposed to get taller.

RDA is shorter. If Jon Jones wasn't around, Cormier would be shorter than all of the rest. If Romero wasn't busted he had a good shot of being the shorted MW champion. Rabble rabble rabble.
