The illegal motion is always referred to as "reaping the knee" at my gym, I'm not sure if there's a difference in terminology.

edit: My instructor is also the dude in charge of US Grappling, so I don't know if that helps at all.

In IBJJF it is, and it also is illegal in some others.

It's a stupid fucking rule for a variety of reasons, IMHO.

Also the fact that you can do the same motion against the knee but from the inside-out strikes me as funny. The fact that you can't do heel-hooks at the No-Gi Worlds or Pan-Ams at black belt level is ridiculous.
