Does anyone remember a story alittle over a year ago about some up and coming young Heavy that had the potential to dominate the division?
I think the story even included Vlad Klitschko saying this guy/kid was going to be a threat. But no name was given at the time.
Whoever it was it was someone hyped to have the potential to clean out the heavyweight ranks.

Could it be Alexander Povetkin? Victories over Byrd and Eddie Chambers recently...suppose to fight Klitscho for IBF belt within year.

I'm looking forward to that fight.
DVRing Abraham v Miranda and watching Witherspoon v Arreola.
My 1st exposure to Witherspoon (fighting) was against Domonic Jenkins.
I liked how he looked in the ring. He threw some nice combos, went to the body and handled Jenkins shots pretty well (which really isn't saying too much).

I hope Witherspoon wins, but whoever wins... it would be nice to see a match between them and Eddie Chambers. Especially if Witherspoon did win - considering their stablemates.

Back to the initial post, I don't think any of these guys were who was being referenced in the article.

Anyone hear anymore info on The Riverman?

Witherspoon is good but I don't see him dominating the hwt division. He is fun to watch. Very smooth and ring smart.

You probably meant this guy Alexander Dimitrenko

Alexander Dimitrenko has been brought up very slowly but still has tons of talent. I keep hearing reports how he is ducking fighters and won't fight in title eliminators. Not sure what he is waiting for.

Didn't even notice that his last fight was in 2002.

I just tried googling him for more info, but the 3 places that even mentioned him aside from his record just refer generally to him missing in action. One site was talking about his poise in the ring being that of a veteran when he was only 19years.
    Now I'm curious as hell....

There's a guy with his name who has a facebook account. But, I have no idea how common that name is.

No I meant Povetkin. He won the gold in Athens, took a year off before turning pro and now is 15-0. Won the IBF title eliminator tourney and is in line for Klitscho although Klitscho is fighting Tony Thompson next(???)

David Rodriguez is big and strong but has fought easy opposition. Very few of his opponenets have winning records.

Tye Fields is an interesting prospect. Fights Monte Barrett this month. 35 plus wins vs one defeat- Barrett will be his first real test. 6"9" 270 plus... weak chin if you can reach it and fights clumsy but has improve over years.

How about Odell Thurman. I'm sure that guy will be in the mma or boxing world soon.

he needs some work before he fights klitschko.

Undefeated Heavy... but 32 and only fighting at the level of Cliff Cousers (his next opponent):

    Solomon Haumono

    14-0 & 14KOs

Odlanier Solis will make some noise in division. Fights Botha on 4th of July. Also, like prospects Roman Greenburg, Tony Grano and JD Chapman.

HAHA, Langford is back? Big strong guy, great 4 round fighter, he fought out of New England for a while, but then when he couldn't get big money he became a bouncer in Vegas I believe. Nice to see him making a comeback.

You know your stuff about these guys.
I only heard about him today because in searching for heavyweight prospects I came across this site:

    http://www.heavyweightnews.com/karlo4.html

Crazy to see how many of those prospects aren't even active...

    Good thread. Povetkin seems legit.
