Economy Heating Bills Have Been Insane

House was built in the 60s which is great because they used redwood and it's well built, but it's there are a few rooms not well insulated.

Anyone here tried the foam insulation they inject into walls?

It's usually a ripoff. Very few companies can do it correctly. Open the walls and insulate them properly.

Let's talk what kind of foam insulation you want to use?

Do you have building's pics and dravings?

I mean I need to see project and some pics + to have some assessment about building's current condition ...
To tell something....

Doors and windows, ventilation channels etc are in normal condition?

Actually it is a bit strange idea to renove building just with method when you for example open walls and just inject in air gap between 2 wall layers foam etc stuff....

Easily $100 more dollars per month than last year despite similar use. Anyone else experiencing this? What a fucking rip off. That high efficiency furnace I just had put in must not be very efficient.

During his campaign Joe literally said he would wage war on oil and gas. Did you think he was lying?

It seems modern heating made people in Europe weak. You’re meant to be accustomed to cold like your ancestor did for 1000s years before the 20th century.

Endure it and let your body get used to it.
I noticed that the bill was like double all of a sudden. So I pretty much stopped using gas other than to cook. Besides the difference of it being 65 or 70 in the house every day doesn't make much of a difference.

Hope gas and electric prices go down for those living in the cold north, so heating bills don't get out of hand. I can remember living in the mid-west and disliking the much higher power bills in the winter time.

Now I'm living in Florida where winter weather is short lived. It is the opposite here as i often don't need to heat my home and as a result my bills are lowest during the winter months. Most of the time I need to cool the house down and to do that i'll open the windows in the morning.

Why would a company in the natural gas world seek out and develop new sources when you have the Biden Administration and the Democrats telling you they are going to shut you down? Instead, you buckle down and make your profits on what you have. Now, the speculators see this and there goes the price... up... up... up.

Joe Biden's idiocy coupled with the "Green" movement has created this problem. It has nothing to do with Russia. The USA has abundant natural gas, but the government has created an environment to stop it from being utilized.

You Leftists can keep voting for Democrats, but don't complain at the results.

I keep the house at 62F

I’m just glad I’m not running on oil like my old house. I can’t imagine how expensive it would be. That house did not hold heat well either and I only kept it at 60
62-65 is where it's at. I keep my office at 63, at home it always varies from 62-65, obviously because of the difference in size.

Ours have been reasonable, but we usually keep the temp pretty low.

I just payed for 100 gallons of oil ( should be enough to last till spring ) Was suprised it went down in price $4/gallon since i bought 200 gallons in november $6/gallon.

Yea, the windows just got replaced as did the doors, upgraded the heating system and split it because it's a two story. Ducts and everything have been checked.

Basically the second story was an addition to home and a couple rooms up there seem to have almost no insulation. It's not drywall, it's the original wood paneling from when the house was built so was hoping to not have to pull it down to get insulation in there.

Risky move. Requires mixture to be right, temp to be right, application to be done very precisely or you could end up with odors and VOC off gassing for years. And if it's done wrong well it would cost you 5x as much to have it removed

What's the end of this? Cripple the current system and funnel people into one that's abusable with artificial restrictions and mandates?

Oh no, we can't have a windfall tax. Think of all those stupidly rich energy execs that won't be able to put down a 20% deposit on that $50 million Superyacht this year! As one great political leader said 'Profit is not dirty word'. I mean these geniuses at the head of these huge multinational energy corporations should be duly rewarded for making their companies so profitable due to their great planning on coercing Russia to invade Ukraine.

Oh wait? They were not responsible whatsoever for Russia deciding to invade Ukraine?.... Hmmmm...so I guess that means they had nothing at all to do with the massive profits due to that event, which means they just got lucky and aren't actually some clairvoyant financial wizards who deserve every single dime of those unprecedented profits....

Tax the cunts, and don't let them make record breaking profits from the average person's misery, while the worst off in society freeze to death from events completely outside of their control.

Our ancestors didn't have the government breathing down their necks actively trying to criminalize them if they tried to live normally.

Just look at this headline from literally today in the UK:
‘A serious threat’: calls grow for urgent review of England’s wood-burning stoves

It's not rocket science. The psychopaths in power want everyone hooked up to the power grid and at their mercy. They've been slowly banning all of the components that would allow you to live a lifestyle outside of the system.
Just buy solar and wind. Energy independence.

You guys are really concerned about heating costs while Putin is doing a genocide!?!?
Yeah but gas prices have gone through the roof! What do I care if some Ukrainian granny gets tortured and raped.

You nailed it. Their goal has been stated out loud. They want to nationalize energy. That's where the Democrats want to take it. It will be a complete collapse and failure. The more pain they can put us through now, through their manipulations, the more they can speak ill of private companies running infrastructure related industries to get the masses, without critical thought, to go along. Just like single payer healthcare goals, they have the same goals of government control.
