The issue is that this isn’t a majority held belief amongst Christians, when it is amongst Muslims. I think it’s worthwhile to point that out since this is trying to frame Christianity as a whole agreeing with this person.

The issue is no one should ever let religious stupidity dictate laws of a Country. Not your preferred flavor of Abrahamic subjugation. Christianity absolutely agrees with this person, it's in their laws of faith. The fact that Christianity had to adjust itself to not seem barbaric towards women by ignoring it's own mandates should be a huge red flag, not a reason to defend it.

It is in the laws of the faith, but the passage meaning is often twisted around just like in this narrative. The man is the leader of the family, but he has the hefty responsibility of putting his wife's well-being before his own, which so often (and indeed in this case) gets left out of the equation. Husbands are instructed to love their wives "just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her." This emphasizes a self-sacrificial love that seeks the well-being and holiness of the wife, mirroring Christ's love for the church. This isn't how your typical chauvinistic slob tries to frame it.

I don't support the idea per se that women should be submissive to men, I'm just saying that passage isn't what conservatives make it out to be (license to make the man the undisputed boss that can do whatever he wants).
