Hawaii One Party State

The Hawaii I remember you had to leave your car doors unlocked othwise risk a junkie smashing the windows for the loose change

Good thing the gun control laws there keep the crime relatively non-violent

How do Checks And Balances work in a state where one part rules?
1) Voters
2) The state constitution

From the Federalist Papers:
“Ambition must be made to counteract ambition. The interest of the man must be connected with the constitutional rights of the place. It may be a reflection on human nature, that such devices should be necessary to control the abuses of government. But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

Hawaii is a bit of an unseal case. Worst voter turnout in the country and many of the wealthy people that live here vote in other states where they have a primary residence. Plus the population is crazy diverse with very little whitetrash.

Asian 38%
White 25%
2 or more races 24%
Native/Pacific Islander 10%
African American 2%

I watched Hawaii 5-0 for a while and I KNOW some shady stuff goes on there.

What makes this really interesting is that the island of Oahu, is 50% Japanese, and 25% military, or atleast that is how it seemed 99-02.

I lived there and while I don't live there anymore I still work there. I know Hawaii.

Anyway do you have a source for your claim?

The Chief of Police, his wife who was the DA along with a dozen other people have been implicated in a corruption probe

Some sources:

In fairness, a lot of these polls show that the state is corrupt, but not as corrupt as others. LA is almost universally regarded as one of the worst states, but Hawaii is usually in the top half of those polls.
