Having a hard time finding a competition in CA

I have always been under the impression that you can throw a rock up in the air in any random direction and it will land on a comp out in CA.

dude are you kidding. half of the people on here live in bum fucking no where and can find tournaments. You life in CA for god sakes.

you may have to travel, long beach holds 4-5 tournamnets a year.

You're seriously not looking hard enough. There was just a Gracie Open in Concord a few months ago and the OTM tournament somewhere in the Bay Area around the same time.

Dude, I live in the Bay area, just an 1.5 hours away, and there is a tourney almost every weekend.... small ones, and then about a major one about 1-2 a month.

You need to go a BJJ school, and ask them. They usually have fliers.

hey guys, I live in new york and I've been having trouble finding a lawyer. can someone help me please?

You guys do realize how far all those LA area tourneys are from us right? Map quest driving directions from Sacramento CA to Long Beach CA and see what you get. California is a big state (second largest in the continental US).

GJJNY and thetequilaman are right about going to the bay area though. There are only a couple of descent size, though, in Northern Cali.

i tend to travel to the long beach area more than i stay home for tournaments, but there's plenty in northern cali. you have the gracie open, battle of the bay twice a year, the us opn in october, and various little deals like claudio franca's jiu jitsu by the sea which is held four times a year if you are on the mailing list. plus the fact that the pan americans, american nationals, and the worlds this year are a big enough deal to drive to la.

Sac BJJ is holding a tourney Oct 30, call down there for info. Its the only local tourney I know thats coming up in Sacramento

Theres a lot all over southern cali..im not too sure about the northern part though...just have to travel i guess..

I think we are VERY fortunate to live in a state (CA) that is big on competitions, heck, theres tournaments AT LEAST once a month and sometimes twice. I love it
Southern Cali has all the tournaments, but northern Cali has the best schools!!! :icon_twis

Ha, there's no way NorCal schools are better than all the schools in San Diego, Orange County and Los Angeles.

Quantity doesn't necessarily mean quality. Anyway, I'm mostly just giving GuardGame a bad time. He always promotes the East Coast, West Coast grappling rivalry. I thought we could start a NorCal SoCal rivalry too.

So tell me, what are the big name grapplers produced in SoCal? We got Cameron Earle, David Terrell, Nick & Nate Diaz, Paul Scherner, and my man Marcos Toregrossa. Considering the number of schools here compared to southern Cali I would say that is a huge number of great grapplers coming out of NorCal.:icon_twis

Try looking harder CA is full of tournaments, try living in Idaho.
