Have you ever had to testify in court?.....tell us about it. What happened? Why were you called to Testify? What was your experience like? What ended up happening?
I'm a clerk in my county's Superior Court so I get to listen to testimony. Once, I am sitting there and my brain is going "this sounds like such a gigantic fucking lie" and the Judicial Officer next to me passes me a note that reads "does this guy REALLY think we're all this stupid?"
Yes, when I was 17. A cop and some guy came to my door (he was probably around my age) - the guy was detained for being drunk in public, and he claimed that he lived at my house. When I told the cop I had no idea who the person was, the kid bolted. Cop ended up tackling the guy and pepper spraying him. I was summoned to court a couple of weeks later, and had to give my statement of events to the judge. I think they were more concerned about the cop using excessive force than whether the kid actually committed a crime (I don't recall the exact questions, but I remember backing up the cop) Relatively uneventful, but I did end up running into the person and his family a couple of months later at the mall. He cussed me out.
Dependency case so I'm not really allowed to say. Denial of knowing someone/a treatment provider for meth addiction while denying a meth addiction. Want a laugh? Go to civil domestic violence court hearings. It's called the "Perjury Courtroom" for a reason.
Thankfully, no. When I was in a group home as a child, a kid got caught with weed/paraphernalia and apparently when they went to court, he blamed it all on me. I was just in the vicinity, playing basketball. Not to mention, they asked me to write a statement based on what I saw. Must have matched up with everybody else's because I never had to worry. I was also 12 years old, while he was 17. Watched him get thrashed by staff for not cooperating and giving up the bud though. Dude was a bully so it was satisfying.
