Can't think of any off the top of my head, tho I think nakamura once tested positive for weed metabolites?

Could this be a reason why the Japanese fighters generally seem to do poorly in the UFC and pride?

That's Kawajiri's theory.

I don't know if there are any Japanese fighters caught for PEDs though there were always guys considered suspect among Japanese fans.

In reality, the reason why they perform poorly is simple. Archaic training, lack of a critical mass of elite fighters to foster top level camps/regional competition, and economic/cultural incentives that places MMA at the very bottom of fight sports (below boxing, kickboxing, Olympic wrestling/judo and full contact karate). i.e. The Japanese don't perform well in the UFC because they generally suck at MMA.

I think the real question is how many fighters who identify as Japanese have failed.

Michinori Tanaka? I forgot what he tested positive for tho

ephedrine and pseudoephedrine

He shamed the bushido culture with his lack of budo then.

And I think it's obvious the Japanese fighters don't use steroids by the almost complete lack of Asian fighters getting popped.

I spend lots of time in Japan,
have not changed anything ever
kind of a weak people except exceptions like Okami and Crusher,
Koreans seem stronger to me...just talking like tendon grip strength, even if small muscularly
It is hard to find enough protein in their diet if you ask me, all rice/noodle carbs, tiniest amount of chicken or pork, and that is usually fried...
Most do not know how to really weight cut like Americans or Brazilians
Sure PEDs prob come into it too
