Have any fighters mentioned how much they work out before?

I mean like in the gym lifting weights? I would be curious as to how much fighters throughout different weight classes can lift etc.

Has anyone ever read about that before from fighters?

The only thing I can remember that was close was Guillard saying the only fighter that he felt was as strong as him was Tibau and that Edgar can bench 155 24 times or something like that.

but seriously. i dont know, they probably do a lot in their training camps.

i read somewhere that werdum didnt lift a signle weight in his life till after he lost to the reem, and from past shows and such ive seen guys like hardy deadlift a lot

I read somewhere lesnar used to like to lift weights during training. Lots of upper body exercises like bench press, back rows, shrugs etc.

Forrest said he loves to lift, but has to keep it to a minimum since he puts on muscle so easy

as long as you lift for endurance there is nothing but positives.

heard somewhere that overeem lifts weights with his neck to try to strengthen the muscles to prevent getting koed. all seriousness. hasnt helped him.

They only do for reps to build endurance, stamina and strength. That 1-3 rep decreases range of motion (not proven in a study yet)

Somewhere around his second fight with Gil, Thomson said he never lifted weights before until that camp. I don't remember exactly which fight but I think afterwards he said he felt like the muscle hurt his cardio a bit.

I bet you get answers across the board, some guys don't lift and some guys lift all the time.

A lot of fighters do that, and it does help you to not be KO'd.

Please explain how you know it hasn't helped him.

everyone who doesn't look like nate or nick diaz prob lifts weights. I would say 80%

BS. Doing strengthening exercises in low rep ranges (3-5) would be great, and leave you with plenty in the tank for doing actual real cardio.

You don't lift weights for endurance, you do endurance work for endurance.

I know that prior to the T. Silva fight Machida began adding dedicated strength and weight-lifting training, both to improve his clinch and takedown defense and to add power to his strikes. He mentioned it in an interview for, I believe, Black Belt Magazine, just after beating Evans.

Oddly enough, plenty of very ripped fighters claim to lift little if at all, including Herschel Walker and Hector Lombard.

I heard that Overeem lifts horses.

J/k I didn't hear that.

Jim miller deadlifts 400 pounds or so in a video floating around somewhere. Judging from physique most would lift regularly, although as others have said most of it is strength endurance style circuits.
