I heard about this, and was a both surprised and interested, since I'm one of those non-drinkers that, apparently, will kick it before the rest of you.

Possible methodological problem with this study: I think a lot of non-drinkers are people who quit drinking because of a health issue, from obesity to liver problems. In those cases, it's not the abstaining that is killing them, it's the preexisting health problem (and abstaining was just part of the reaction to/treatment for that health problem). In fact, drinking in the first place could have contributed to those health problems, so drinking could be killing nondrinkers, as nondrinkers were defined in this study.

I'm not sure how well the study adjusted for all that (though they say they did, I haven't read much of it yet).

Anyway, in the spirit of this thread (pun intended),
Whole Health Source: Does Red Wine Protect the Cardiovascular System?

(READ IT--It's probably not what you think...)
