all I can say is: Respect to him for sacrificing 2 years of his life into a sport we all love. By this, we should all be convinced MMA is an ELITE sport which you cannot step into for fun, even with a 2 year preparation by top coaches.

I'd step in the octagon too for 2 minutes and get choked out for 500k.

Why the fuck should we respect a rich, famous dude for getting a free pass in the UFC?

I respect him for getting rich and famous (got no idea if he was born into that though)

I don't get all this respect

is that that much of a difference between a street fight and a cage fight? in fact street fights are even more dangerous.

I really don't get why fighting is so difficult. difficult to get good at but not difficult to do.

Respect to Punk. People putting him down and calls him stupid got no competitive bone in their body.

He took some nasty GnP from the moment he was taken down. He didn't just turtle and let it end. He tried to fight back. He was simply outclassed with a stronger, younger, better trained man on top of him.

That's exactly why you should respect. He's married with a hottie, got a shitload of money and is set for life. He didn't need to do this at all, but still did.

We really shouldn't. Who here WOULDN'T train full time with millions in the bank and get a free shot at a UFC fight where you earn a shit ton of money?

Dudes got balls on him. He went out there and took his licks. Respect to punk

He's a rich kid trying to climb Mount Everest out of boredom and reaching base camp, then quitting.

nice responses folks. that's what I've been saying before this fight happened. there's no reason to respect a guy for entering a cage in these circumstances. I would get beat up twice as hard for half the money.

Or they don't want to pay $60 to watch an amateur fight in the big leagues so he can live out his dream at the cost of quality entertainment.

You're sorta leaving out the part about him grinding and earning those dollars.

He has my respect and I really don't go in for the needless disrespect of him. He did about as expected sure...but all the critics watched while he did

I have some respect for him, not everyone would do that.
There are many of us who would, however, expecting to lose, but just to say you did and because you might pull of a miracle.
And there are many guys who have paid a lot more dues than Punk, and will never get there. Ben Askren, for example, lol..... what kind of legit top organization.......?

Hmm how did he quit? I mean, he went through a grueling camp, made the weight and stepped into the cage. Then took his beating.

It sounds like maybe you just don't like Punk
