Has wrestling, takedowns and top-control become less rewarding with the judges?

The Bagautinov/Elliot fight remindend me of this idea (Ali getting 30-27 with one judge) I can't really pin-point other exact fights or situations that support this idea, because my memory sucks right now. I feel however that till about a few months ago, taking your opponent down and "lay-and-praying" for a while would give you the round. Now it seems that this scores you less points among the judges than it once did. Another thing I noticed was the ref obviously broke up the clinch a lot quicker than usual this event.

Seeing how the UFC has started taking actions against grappling-orientated fighters I think it might be possible that they have pushed for (subtle) changes in the regulations while not making alterations in the rules.

Thoughts?
