Has/Will anybody in mma win a "world title" in 3 different weight classes?

18-0 Shooto champion Hayato Sakurai was considered the #1 ranked WW in the world when Anderson defeated him.

The highest Anderson has ever been ranked at WW though is #2.

Ummm...., no he wasn't. Silva beat Sakurai in August 2001. Immediately before this, in July 2001, Sakurai was ranked #3 at WW:

Usman isn't making 155 ever in his life and 205 has 6'4" 230lb guys at the top. Adesanya still has double champ potential but hard to see him beating the best HWs. Especially if Francis, Black Beast, or Gane are champs.
i could see him easily outpointing black beast and francis
but yeah it will be tough against gane

I think we will at some point. I don't think that person is around just yet

It's very low level MMA organisations, but before Volkanovski was in the UFC and won the FW title, he won a LW and WW title outside the UFC

It can happen if 2 of the 3 divisions are very shallow - hence a WMMA fighter like Shevchenko or Nunes is most likely to do it.
