Has there ever been a fighter who improved as much as Rumble changing weights?

Vitor from HW to LHW/MW?

Maybe not held a major belt (the Randy eyelid thing doesn't count, even though it does), but fuck me what a career

Rumble moving up and
Maia moving down...
In that order- both remarkable.

What a career indeed. I remember very well when he shot on the scene back in the nineties - as a teenager. As impressive as he was back then, never in a million years would I have believed that he'd still be fighting top fighters more two decades later, in a sport that has arguably developed more in that timespan than any other sport in history. The guy is an absolute legend, no matter how you cut it. I take my hat off to him.

Overeem from light heavyweight to heavyweight

Donald Cerrone was doing pretty well as a welterweight before meeting Masvidal

Cormier
Cerrone
Maia
Lawler

All had tremendous success switching divisions. Sometimes going up or down can make a huge difference.

Don't sleep on Whittaker goin up and Larkin goin down.

When you put it like that it's not that impressive.

Conor was champ at 145 then moved to 155 and won the championship in his first fight at 155.

Anderson is another great example.

Mighty Mouse was pumped they created a division for him to rule.

Absolutely, I remember thinking at the the time that the likes of Vitor and Pedro Rizzo were the scariest guys in the world. And Randy beat both of them when he was supposed to get mureded, which is why he became my all time favorite fighter.

And talking of Randy, I didn't even think of him in regards to someone changing weights successfully. Doesn't get much more successful than HW tourney winner to LHW champ to HW champ
