Most guys on the street in the UK know Anthony Joshua.
UK is a politically correct shithole.
It makes sense.
Rest of the World - big NO!

Thinking that Anthony Joshua's popularity in the UK is somehow connected to political correctness does not make sense, and suggests that you're a moron.UK is a politically correct shithole.

Yeah Anthony Joshua is one of the people who transcend race by their victories and their personality. You'll find just as many white people rooting for him as black people in the UK and it has nothing to do with Political Correctness. He's pretty universally loved as he seems like a decent humble down to earth approachable guy. He appeals well to the general public as the smiley face of boxing. It was just the same with Frank Bruno in his hey day the guy was treated like a Saint because he had that everyman appeal.Thinking that Anthony Joshua's popularity in the UK is somehow connected to political correctness does not make sense, and suggests that you're a moron.

What do you mean it's a socialist shithole, the Tories are in power for one. And what does socialism have to do with Joshua's everyman appeal? Behind Canelo, Joshua is probably the bigger star in boxing right now, not counting Manny.Makes perfect sense.
UK is a socialist shithole. And it's easy to be popular there. But that's only locally. It's like a parrallel world.
Maybe in America. Not here though for sure. Joshua is a star here. See him plastered all over adverts and billboards and shit.
he could land a right cross before DC can close distance or time him with an uppercut when DC change levels for takedown... HWs only need one punch. Im not saying it’s likely, if they fought 100 times I think 5 times DC would lose
That happened in the 2000s.
Boxings booming it's just American is not the centre of the Boxing universe from Welterweight and up as now the Eastern Europeans and slowly more so in the future the Cubans are doing well.Ever worry that the Heavyweight Championship of the World has lost some of its prestige? It used to be THE most prized title in all of sports, but now it's an afterthought.
Remember when everyone knew who the heavyweight champion was? Now you'd be lucky if a random
person on the street knew who it was.
Is this because of boxing's decline in popularity, or are there other factors?
I had suspected that but it's good to have it confirmed. So AJ is the biggest fighter on the planet.AJ is well known through out whole Europe to casual audience. Not only UK.

Not true. SImply not true.
Even Usyk is a bigger star atm.
You have Lomachenko.
Other fighters as well.

Canelo is. Floyd if we can still count him obviously is. Conor is if we count MMA.
Not sure i'd agree with Loma and definitely wouldnt with Usyk though. A few more people might have heard the name Loma but Joshuas ticket and PPV sales are on a totally different level to either of them.
I hated Lennox as he won gold for Canada and then decided he was British and no doubt about in the crowds but for some reason I couldn't support him plus he was tough and technical but so fuckin boring. It basically just comes down to Lennox and then even more so the Klitschkos causing American fans to take their ball and go home. For the first time in a century America wasnt front and center of it anymore, so HW boxing became "dead" and we got the whole "they all suck" and "all the would be HW champs are playing in the NFL and NBA now" narrative. This is probably partly why MMA was able to gain a lot of ground in the US in the 00s too.
