Has social media damaged society or have people abused this technology?

My business wouldn't be half as successful as it is without social media so I am grateful for it even though I acknowledge the issues with it as well.

I think we abuse it. As a social species, we're drawn to interacting with other people. When that social interaction avenue is unchecked, it gets abused.
