His losses are against:
The champ twice in close fights
#1 and the maybe soon champ Thompson
Condit who just beat the champ

C'mon guys, he also beat Woodley who fights for the title and Maia who should fight for the title.
Nate Diaz, BJ Penn and Jake Ellenberger.
Rory is always #1-3 and had the toughest opposition

Lawler beat the fight out of him. Thompson should have been easier than Che Mills for Rory.

If he stays at tri-star, yes. I think moving camps will be good for him. He's way too passive.

Hope you are right - I like the kid........I really felt for him after this latest fight with Thompson - I think he needs to get his nose fixed and see a fight psychologist.....he looked like he was emotionally and mentally crushed....changing camps might help too.....

I saw the Post Fight Interview he did Backstage @BC 206 told me about and I felt so bad, it is truly one of the worst I've felt for a fighter since Aldo at UFC 194.

Wasn't Robbie Lawlor all washed up only a few short years ago...?

McDonald might need to take a break, maybe change camps (though honestly don't see that as a necessity) and maybe own Bellator at welterweight for a bit first is all.

That or Lawlor took his fighting spirit along with his face and he has to politely ask for it back.

robbie lawler is all the proof you need that guys can have serious career resurgences.

He's young, skilled, and fighting top competition. Give him a few more fights before making that call.

Rory has a serious hurdle to climb.

His mental state IMO isn't good right now. He's not full blown Ellenberger, but he's not too far off.

He seemed a bit gunshy and uneasy about getting hit in the face this last fight. Totally understandable after the Lawler fight, but it looks like he's struggling with demons after that one. Those psychological battles can be tough to win.

Unfortunately that war with Robbie possibly took years off his career. I personally thought he should have taken more time to heal up before he fought Wonderboy. There were rumors that he was still having issues with his nose as recently as February.

The earlier you start your MMA career the earlier you peak. See: Joe Stevenson.

which one? Sounds like it confirms my theory.

Fuck no, he still has many years of experience to gain...anyone who thinks he has peaked is an idiot guy is 26..

hes only 26....hell be back for sure...i agree he should take some time off and heal his face up tho

He said taking time off didnt do shit and he likely needs surgery.

By far the best version of Hory we will ever see showed up at 189 and got KOd by Hobbie.

That was also the best version of Hobbie we might ever see. His boxing didnt look so good against Carlos after his long time boxing trainer retired post 189.

What is the point of misspelling fighters names on purpose here? I don't get it.

This was bad

A guy like Hobbie is the outlier not the standard. Hes one of the mentally strongest and toughest fighters in history, Hory isnt. Plus Hobbies issues in the past were technical issues he fixed when he moved to ATT. I dont think Hory has much technical issues.

Ppl talked about Andreis "resurgence" but he was just fighting weaker competition. It was the same old Andrei and no real resurgence, he fought exactly the same and had shit fights where neither guy did nothing like in the past or quick KOs. Same with Mark Hunt, he isnt in his prime and hasnt been since PRIDE.

Bisping you could make a case but i think it was more right place, right time. I dont expect him to have any sort of run.

So really Hobbie and RDA are the only outliers i can think of that truly match "career resurgence".

Hes never claimed the division and never will. He just cant beat the championship level or top 3 fighters or come through in the clutch.

Hory is the WW version of Gustafsson and Chad.
All of the guys he has lost to will have moved on by then and he'll be the veteran instead of the prodigal son, Condit will be 35 and is already contemplating retirement, WB will be 36.

Ouch. That's crazy sad to hear. I have to blame his coaches at this point. It was irresponsible of them to take this fight against a Wonderboy who has ridiculous momentum behind him. He needed a tune-up fight, because there's no way he was psychologically ready after 189 to fight someone of that caliber.
