Just curious, during all that time off being a realtor (one fight in three years) did he ever quit training full time?

You can fight and sell real estate...and at least come really close to winning a title. It's been done.

As for your questions, I have no idea. Stipe has managed to be a firefighter and perform at the highest levels of MMA. It seems like a day job would hurt your performance. However, maybe the trade-off is that fewer fights and not spending too many hours training (hard sparring) preserves your body.

does pro wrestling count?

Full-time pro wrestling is really hard on you...Ken Shamrock came back to MMA in much worse shape than he left...and to add insult to injury, it also evolved a lot since it was a new sport.

Occasional events like Josh Barnett, Coleman, Severn, etc. did probably don't have much affect.

He was injured but Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh he was already on this fight card

I know he was training for this fight. Didnt know if he stopped at all during the 3 years leading up to it.

What was his injury?
