I don't know about you guys, but I'll watch a movie where someone is supposed to be an ultra badass and I have trouble sitting through it because they have sloppy technique. Like Bruce Lee finishing off Kareem in the game of death with a side headlock, ect. Does it bother you to watch the hero of a movie fight and think to yourself "I could kick his ass"?

I'm watching balls of fury and George Lopez did a proper RNC on a guard?

If you consider Joe Pesci stomping the fuck out of somebody a fight scene, no.

No. But then I'm not a noob who walks around thinking to my self "I could kick his ass"

No, I know movies are just for entertainment, and often times what is entertaining is not very effective, and what is effective usually doesn't make for good cinema. And no, I don't watch movies and think "I could kick this guy's ass". I watch movies and think "Man, that was cool" or "Damn, this movie sucks, I want my $10 back".

Pisses me off when Bruce Lee bites his way out of an armbar

how bout the fight scene in Eastern Promises eh, blew my mind.

and @ joe pesci LOL

If its meant to be a grappling technique, then it can be annoying. Bruce Lee probably isn't a good example, as given Game of Death came out in the late '70s, already impressive he even tried to incorporate some grappling into his last film.

I'm told Flashpoint manages to merge flashy Hong Kong action with a bit of grappling knowledge, so would like to pick up a copy of that some time (this clip certainly looked entertaining).

No: I think "wow, that was some good stuntwork, I could never do that." Action films aren't about fighting skill, they're about great choreography.

One of the movies I liked was bourne series. The fight scene was cool. I also liked the movie Taken.

I've never sat around worrying about whether or not I could kick any particular actor's ass, but if something is blatantly unrealistic in a fight scene is does kind of kill it for me.

I think that's the same with anything that you have knowledge of and care about. It's the same way when it comes to military movies.

Before I served, I could enjoy a war flick without any problems, but now I can't help but get annoyed when something is obviously wrong. You know it's not the way things are in real life and it ruins the scene for you. I think that's understandable.

That clip was pretty cool actually, i liked how he was using guard and triangled him haha. Thats about as useful as grappling is in terms of entertainment value i think.

Flashpoint was the movie that introduced me to MMA and BJJ and that is why I am training now. I got another clip from the beginning of the movie which I like, looks very cool (good enough to make me train BJJ!!!). Imagine really doing that in a disco~

The Flashpoint clip is pretty cool!

They did a good job of getting grappling in there while keeping the pace fast.

I was also surprised to see how much grappling they actually put in there.

Armbars, triangle, heelhook. double leg attempt, sprawls, 2 or 3 judo throws. Of course the coupe de grace, RNC.

After a bit of Googling, I see it has a Bey Logan commentary, which means I definitely want to get hold of this now. That guy does the best commentaries I've ever heard (real shame that Hong Kong Legends went under, as I used to love all their releases, in large part due to aforementioned awesome commentaries). He's friends with Yen, IIRC, so probably not surprising he pops up on this.

shoulder throw, sprawl, Flying armbar, very nice!

ong bak restored a bit of face to the stand up movie scene for me!

LOL HARD! at bruce biting his way out of Armbar?

How would he get out of a triangle?

Flash Point is available here (Amazon would be good, as I have a voucher), but I'm not sure if thats the special edition with all the great extras. Anyone have a good link? Alternately, I'm thinking Play.com (I've got a multi-region player, but Region 2 means I can play it elsewhere too).

Now I want to see that movie flashpoint. Looks great.

FLYING ARMBAR!!!!!

now I cant even say rickson by armbar!
