That he's a modern-day Jake Shields but not as good on the ground? Discuss.
I agree with this. He's like a modern day nick diaz with wrestling but average. Also he doesn't have ko power so i can see him as a mixture of jake shields and nick diaz (the volume of punches but no power in them). Pillowfist colby will lose to Usman this weekend. MARK MY WORDS.
I can see a Diaz comparison but not really Shields i've got to be honest. Colby at least looks like he has good striking technique, i'm no expert but Shields looked pretty pedestrian for a pro MMA fighter (as good as he was overall mind you).
He appears to be way better “on the feet” sort of speak.
Colby far better standing. Shields a far better grappler.
Looking forward to Usman shutting this down on Sat night
Jake’s striking was always super sloppy, colbys isn’t that bad.
plus jake had way better subs.
Only thing i know is this:
Usman will murder his ass
The comparison is not on point in my opinion.
Only thing shields has over Colby is Jiu Jitsu. Colby is a far better striker and a better wrestler.
Shields = grappler
Covington = wrestler
Shields' wrestling was pretty shitty. Had nothing but single legs. He also had crappy striking but a high fight IQ and knew how to win.
Colby is like Nick Diaz with good wrestling.
Don't see it at all.
Colby is a good striker, great wrestler and average subs
Shields was a fucked striker, average wrestler and has elite sub game
He's a modern day GSP with less power and less sub skills.
He’s the modern day Tito Ortiz. Boring wrestlers who compensate with an obnoxious persona. The only difference is people used to actually think Tito was cool.
I thought he was a modern-day Matt Hughes who punches people in the face.
Usman is going to win, his striking is better than Colby and he won't get taken down by Colby.
wrestling = grappling
murder = lay and pray
Separate names with a comma.
