Has anyone here gone gluten free?

Yeah I'm basically bloated from the moment I eat breakfast up until I wake up the next morning to eat breakfast again. I'm only 155lbs but I have to walk around with my stomach sucked in half the time because I get toddler body as soon as I eat anything. Someone posted an article a while back about how doctors are finding out that your appendix harbors good bacteria in it and I had mine out when I was a kid so that could be some sort of factor as well.

I've always thought of gluten free as some shit hippies made up because they're bored but I'm willing to try anything at this point. Dropping the coffee for a bit should be an easy test for you. I don't drink it at all so I know it's not that for me. Did your SO go gluten free because she had stomach issues or did she have something else going on?

Yup.

She was having stomach issues like bloating, painful gas, constipation, and even fatigue.

She said it actually got worse over time.

But apparently going gluten free really made a difference and fast.

She says it cleared up the stomach issues, (amongst other things) and now is always telling me and others gluten free is the way to go.

I used to jokingly give her shit about it, but she swears by it.

I'd say it's worth a shot.

I'm doing Keto right now, don't feel particularly good. I have lost 6lb in the last 3 weeks tho.

A cold IPA would make me feel a lot better.
I've lost about 40 lbs in 4 months.
I really don't even want sugar anymore.

I live on gluten. Gluten rocks.
Lots of fresh, naturallly fermented beautiful bread.
Almost as much pasta. Be It italian, japanese, chinese. Oh delicious.

Because you eat too much sugar.
The false narrative you idiots follow is that you go "Gluten free for a few weeks to see if I feel better" and stop eating crap, thinking it's the gluten. No, you're just not eating as much as sugar and crap. It's not some protein that is making you feel this way.

Obviously the wise words of a fucking career fry cook are what anyone and everyone should be planning a diet around!

Long post warning.

In 2012 I started having increased heart rate to the point I thought I was having an heart attack. My wife had to take me to ER to get checked out. They strapped me up with a whole heap of shit and gave me some mylanta (blood thinner)and my heart rate would get back to normal after about an hour. This happened about about 5 or 6 times. I didn't know what to do and my Doc tested me for chrohns, 24 hr piss test and 24 hr ECG test and I even went to a heart specialist and did a heart test on a treadmill. They'd basically run out of ideas so a colleague recommended a nutritionist.

So she starts pressing this device against different points of my hands and feet. After a 45 minute consultation she said I should quit gluten and a heap of other specific vegetables. She put me onto a probiotic and some other herbs. I noticed a difference straight away.

After a few months of feeling better I thought I'd go get a second opinion and my Doc gave me a referral to an Allergist. The receptionist called and just said he wouldn't see me because there was nothing wrong with me. I was shocked and pretty pissed that he could make that call without even seeing me but thought to myself 'fuck it, what I'm doing is working I don't need to see this douche'.

I do really miss pasta and beer - but don't mind the occasional cider now. I used to feel bloated all the time and felt like I needed to shit all the time but nothing. I think cutting down on gluten and those other foods has really helped and I can now eat some of the foods in small amounts - ie. One of the foods was mushrooms and I love them so do eat them occasionally.

For myself personally, ever since I cut out the majority of dairy (still eat a bit of cheese once in a blue moon), grains, processed foods, and switched from beer to red wine (for the most part), I don’t get the bloat feeling anymore and feel much better.

What an informative post in a thread asking people about their experiences of cutting out gluten.

Nice dude I'm glad the new diet has worked for you. Is this the list of foods you have to now go by?

https://www.ibsdiets.org/fodmap-diet/fodmap-food-list/

Or were the list of specific vegetables she told you not to eat different from that list? We definitely have/had the same symptoms so I'm willing to try it. Started it yesterday and I'm pretty sure I avoided eating any gluten. Felt a bit better but I do have some decent days once in a while so I'm going to keep it up for a while and see what happens.

Lmao @ you 30 and 40 somethings so out of shape you have to resort to not eating a fucking grain so your wives will find you attractive instead blasting the hitachi to bbc porn.

Oh, I support gluten free persons.
I sell 2 different gluten free beers in my restaurant. One of my regulars is alergic.
Cant even manipulate flour in the same room as her meals are prepped. For two days prior.
Anyway, shes Always endlessly going on about the benefits et all and how I should cut gluten out of my life.To each tHeir own.

I always thought whatever stomach or digestion problem you have, all the bro scientists come out start blaming others on not doing the most trendy diet.

It could be something psychological, it doesn't just have to be your diet. Anxiety will fuck with anything in your body, from your chest, to your stomach, to your digestion system, and to any muscle or nerve in your body. Its travels everywhere. It always could be something else.

I really don't think a diet controls how you feel overall, unless you developed an eating disorder. When people think their new diet is making them feel better, I really see it as the placebo effect.

Maybe ask your doctor to send you to a gastroenterologist. They will find out whats up.

Dunno if it is gluten per se but my wife is definitely wheat sensitive. Not allergic to traces, but sensitive.

She'll get rashes if she eats more than a tiny amount, she can get away with a nibble here and there but a sandwich on regular bread would give her a skin rash and abdominal discomfort.

Before we figured out what it was there were days the bloating would be really really bad, like fetal ball on the couch bad.

Mylanta isn't a blood thinner, it's for heartburn and acid reflux. Sounds like you were having anxiety due to the bloating.
