Opinion Has anyone ever switched from right to left?

I’m sure there are plenty on both sides of it. Both parties are complete clusterfucks these days tho so it’s hard to pull for either. The left is leading the league in insanity right now however.
its the sad reality. Not gonna lie at state level I vote republican because I don’t want state tax and want lax gun laws. Federal wise if libtards were not so retarded with far left agendas they could get my vote. What a shitfest.

Blanket statement no. 3221
When you get older & more successful, you tend to lean right because you'd want lower taxes. When you get older & you suck at life, you tend to lean left because you want handouts & also to impress college chicks of your wokeness because god knows no one wants to bang you.
Unfiltered truth.

I have a feeling the opposite has increased ten fold in the last 5 years

That's why they came out in force to give Trump less votes than Hillary goddamn Clinton. It's the 5x increase in conservatives that's the reason, and that's why the RNC routinely has to issue memos about how the party needs to stop being stupid, propose better ideas, and actually represent someone else but the donors they have.

They always fail, but their assessments don't seem to be coming from a widening tent, to say the least.

more and more, as you grow you become "Red Pilled".

you learn that much of the ideology and lessons being taught to you had little basis in fact or reality.

That's why I moved left. The modern right movement requires people to believe objectively false things. And I do mean "requires." Just telling the truth about factual matters relating to climate, economics, foreign policy, Trump, and most other matters of political controversy means you're on the left in America.

Good thing this country has the electoral college huh? We will see very soon. Trump just blew out records in NH of all places in a meaningless primary

I wouldn't say I was ever a right winger, but I did use to watch those "sjws rekt" compilations un-ironically on YouTube.. until I grew the fuck up

Your assessment was a claim about a 5x increase in political affiliation towards the conservative side when the cult of personality got 3 million votes less than a historically shit candidate. Him winning, and the electoral college are not pertinent in relation to my point.

The GOP establishment has recognized their tent can do naught but shrink, and that's why their leadership keeps issuing memos detailing this fact. That's also why their primary electoral strategy is keeping people off voting rolls and anti democratic gerrymandering, stripping millions of citizens from actually being represented in elections.

With more credible faces than trump and updated social policies the GOP could be an unstoppable force but somehow they are camped in their outdated ways.

Also isn't the better question how many people have abandoned the left and the right to call themselves Independents.
If the Dems get absolutely destroyed in the next election I could actually see a 3rd party becoming much more viable. Let the Dems have the Socialist lane, Independents can be what Democrats USED to be, and Republicans can go back to caring about deficit spending again. And all will be right with the World. :)

I’m still conservative but in the US the republicans are abysmal. I could never vote for someone like George W or Trump.

So I hold my nose and vote libertarian.

Is there anyone you think is reasonable in the GOP?

I thought Romney was very bright and had a great background, but he had to play along with the craziness and was thus totally unacceptable. I can't see anyone reasonable backing these guys (I think highly of you so I'm interested in seeing your answer here).

From an electoral standpoint, the craziness on social issues is the stronger part of the party. Voters put up with plutocratic policy because they like the regressive social stuff and Christian dominionism.

Republicans will never go back to caring about the deficit, unless they are out of power.

It's just not how corporatists operate. What does long term debt have to do with your quarterly profits?

You would actually have to see farther than 6 inches in front of your face to care about debt, and corporatists are literally incapable of that.

lol I was a big time leftie in the 70s
saw the complete disarray and incompetence of the party
while witnessing the absolute societal decay they endorsed and
gradually drifted toward the right.
not hard line, mind you.
but the left is completely fucked now as they were in '72
moderation is key
I wish there was a viable libertarian party movement

sorry @Koro_11 , don't mean to hijack your thread...

for those who said yes in this thread, what was your "Red Pill" moment?

when did you realize just how perverse, toxix, dishonest leftist ideology was?

when did you realize that you were taught a fantasy?

Elizabeth Warren was a registered "diehard conservative" until her 50s. Cenk Uyger of the Young Turks was a Republican until his 30s.

It happens. I think these days, you are seeing a lot more left go moderate or right though. The fringe left have hijacked liberal principles and have alienated a lot of people. If you are on the right, you think that everyone on the left are the fringe left.
