Opinion Has anyone ever switched from right to left?

Because social democracy which has worked wonders in every other developed country is the same as Cuban communism.

Bernie is coming, baby...

Where it's worked it's been subsidized by the USA

But yeah, works fucking great on its own.

You're right to a certain extent. American military hegemony and world power status post-World War II has allowed allied countries to flourish. I think you should join us in advocating for joining in on their societal benefits for the average person rather than continuing to foolishly fund socialism for defense contractors and major corporations and rugged individualism for the common people.

Dude, Bloomberg switched from Left to Right to Left to Indepenmdant to Left.

You will see a fair bit of politicians switching parties (both ways) in state and municipal government.

Someone being an emotional child and attacking the poster instead of the topic is absolutely relevant too.

If it works so well why are there no Americans migrating to Norway or wherever you think it’s better?

They don't just let anyone in those countries man. We don't send our best people apparently. I love it here and even though there are places with better quality of life than here, this is my country and I am not just moving out. Lots of people do though.

I would rather see this country changed for the better with a livable minimum wage and guaranteed health care to every man woman and child that is free at the point of service and some kind of affordable housing as housing costs are through the roof in many areas in the states.

Basically if society is going to produce a job that needs filled then that job ought to pay enough and society ought to be organized in such a way that the person filling that job can live a life of dignity and not be caught up in survival instincts and fear.

I don't think I will

Everyone wants better living conditions but you offer simple solutions to very complex problems. Raising minimum wage has both pros and cons. It sounds like a great idea on the surface, but it has many downsides. In companies with a fixed compensation budget, an increase to the minimum wage could result in layoffs or slower hiring. Employers might hire fewer workers in entry-level jobs, which might make it harder for workers to begin their careers.

Im with you on the healthcare tho, I live in Canada and we have that system in place already and although the quality of health care suffers, it’s probably still the better way to go.

It will all work out and we will make adjustments as we go. People at the bottom must have enough no matter what adjustments need to be made.

You realize that a lot of the people at the bottom put themselves in that position.

I’m all for giving more opportunities to those who are willing to work and contribute. Not a fan of handouts for drug addicts, lazy people and career fuckups. My family immigrated here with nothing when I was a child, started at the very bottom and somehow lifted themselves up. I know many immigrant families who did the same, the vast majority in fact.

So ya, not much of an excuse for anyone living in the land of opportunity, although there are some exceptions most made their own bed.

My 74 year old father hasn’t gone left, but has ceased to be a Republican. He’s been a Republican his whole life, but he says he doesn’t understand the current Republican Party. He was an NRA member for decades, but cancelled his membership because he thinks they’re nuts.

I don't care if they put themselves in those positions though..... Those positions need filled and every single person who fills them should have a certain standard of living as I said. The fact is that some people are going to shake out at the bottom and those people have a worth and a dignity that is non negotiable.

I also just reject outright that these people are fuck ups........ there is nothing wrong with an honest days labor no matter how lowly it is and fuck off to anyone who thinks otherwise.

Honest days labour to those willing to work - yes... handouts to those not willing to contribute- no.

You said career fuckups. That does not sound like people not willing to work.

Bernie is proposing a federal jobs guarantee. He is not proposing giving handouts to those not willing to work.
