I was thinking about Hughes vs Alves, and how he could have refused to fight Alves because he missed weight, has anyone actually done that in the UFC, and what were/would be the consequences?

Dennis Hallman couldn't make weight for Thiago Tavares and the fight was scrapped. Hallman got cut.

I was getting ready to point this one out but also mention, they never really clarified what really happened. There were several stories

I think Hitomi Akano refused to fight Cyborg, then some kind of backroom deal was made.

Didn't Vitor not want to fight Rumble. He seemed hesitant in the video blog that Dana put out.

apparently you have to be within a certain weight range to be elligible for a CW (I think it was something like that) and Hallman missed that minimum so the fight was scrapped

I don't remember him not wanting to fight him but I remember him finishing him in the 1st round :icon_chee

He fought in speedos and something slipped out or nearly did, that was the first nail in the coffin, then he missed weight, that was the last nail in the coffin.

Don't remind us of that crap also him missing weight was the second fight in a row , he missed weight for the Makdessi fight and won but against Thiago couldn't even get close.

Rumble doesn't agree when he fought Belfort.

Mexico's El Temible came in over the weight limit and the late great Diego Corrales refused a fight. Instead, Corrales sued Castillo.
