Has a hype train ever ended as quick as Robbie Lawler's?

In 2004 when he ran into his first decent competition (Nick Diaz) he got dazed by stiff cross in the 2nd round.......his luck only got worse from then on........he got completely derailed.

He actually went on to become the champion some 10 years later, idiot.

Please. Go tease your mother. She'll still love you for it. The rest of us will not.

Exactly, so why the hate for guys who supposedly get derailed after an off night?

This thread is about Robbie Lawler, what the fuck are you talking about?

Only because the mods didn't get the joke.

But there is a context to this. A purpose

"a purpose"
in providing the VERY RARE example of a case where a guy gets completely derailed and manages to come back and become UFC champ? I mean, sure, a 69 year old could be in better shape than he was at 22, but realistically that almost never happens and prospects who get derailed fairly early rarely come back to fulfill the hype.

EDIT: I'll give you this, his loss to Jouban does not mean he wont be champ within a couple years (see Anderson Silva). Everyone loses. That said, he was overhyped to begin with and Im just gonna hope he falls off the map since his fans are already as annoying as Conor fans and he has a similarly abrasive personality.

What's this stupid business about "69 vs 22"?

Rare huh? How rare is rare to you? Silva, Lawler, Bisping, Tyron fucking Woodley? Miesha Tate? Rafael dos Anjos? Eddie Alvarez?

Also, they've all been DERAILED... as in finished...embarrassed.

You can't say that about some up and comers that haven't been finished in the big league but people will clown em anyway.

A fail on so many levels. I'll leave you to your wasteland

Robbie was a champ...with actual title defenses handing out ass whoopin's...wrong example to use.

Only in retrospect....but some rookies are in their 1st loss not nearly as embarrassing a loss either.

Lawler got stiffened by a single punch.

Only after the end of 2014 did Lawler become champ.
