Has a fighter ever came close to saying that he thinks he will lose the fight?

This question came to me when I was looking through the GOAT thread earlier. You wouldn't think anyone would ever say that they think they will lose. I am guessing some fighters have said that they don't know and we will see what happens. But what is the most unsure a fighter has ever been?

I remember when Felice Herring was asked "Do you think you will win TUF?" before it started she replied "Probably not".

I'm too lazy to find a source.

Bonnar vs Anderson
The UFC even ran commercials/videos with Bonnar and Forrest joking about how this was going to be rough.

Forrest in the promos leading up to the Anderson fight. He knew it was a long shot.

I believe Remco Pardoel said in an interview after he elbowed Orlando Wiets brains in that he did not expect to win the fight.

Fortunately, neither did anyone else.

Thanks for the nostalgia burst haha, Gonna go rewatch this today.

I think it may have been Kuzuyuki Fujita but in his pre fight interview with Wanderlei, he said something along the lines of he wasn't sure how he could win against Wanderlei and he would have to try and get/hold him down. He seemed very unsure about the matchup

Mike Swick came back to his corner after first round and said "that dude is strong".. (referring to Yushin Okami)

The thread is asking more about BEFORE the fight even takes place and they are just talking about it.

Didn't Dan Henderson say he didn't think he would beat Fedor?

CB Dollaways expressed major reservations about fighting Machida. In one interview he said something like, "I know I'm a major underdog and I get that. Lyoto is going to be a very difficult fight for me."

Mendes had very self defeating language leading up to Connor. Saying stuff like "if I win". He showed alot of self doubt. I think he beat himself against him.

Amir Sadollah had a habit of commenting that the other guy was going to beat him, if I can recall.

That was the first thing that came to my mind when I read the thread title :P
Fujita said that he will have to rely on his "thick skull", that maybe Wand will tire kicking him, and he might win this way.

Other than that, IIRC Forrest said some things before a couples fights, but that's his personality, he liked to goof around this way.

Don Frye basically said that taking the kick boxing matchup in Japan against Jerome LeBanner!

"Probably get A$$ kicked" however did not remotely predict the savage brutal forced violence that was to come.

That (Don Frye) was indeed one of the toughest MoFro's EVA!

I know, I know, Bad example, Holly hits a lot harder than JLB! Sorry.

There is one and he is fighting this weekend.

Back when DHK, AKA the big DONG, was scheduled to fight Hector Lombard, he said he had about 30% of chance of winning that fight, and that he was very aware of that.

"Im scared. Im very scared. Because Weidman training hard. I train hard but Weidman da bess. Im scared. Im very scared. Chris Weidman have 2 chances for win this fight, I have 1 chance. Is normal. I dunno maybe Chris Weidman ahhhh Chris Weidman da bess in the world. Chris Weidman champion of UFC, yeah yeah thats my perfect fight. No hematch Im tired bro"

He knew he had no chance. Chris completely FUCKED this dude up physically and mentally broke him. His mind games DIDNT work AT ALL. His technique WASNT as good ANYWHERE than Chris ground or standup. After the 2nd fight he had to have his wife drive him around LA so he could cry away from his children so they wouldnt see daddy cry about the fears Chris instilled in him

The rematch said it all with Andersons entrance................he was SHOOK

Disagree. He was confident heading in IMO. He was saying how he cant wait to punch a hole in his face, hows hes the worst matchup for him etc.

Chad did break mentally but that was DURING the fight when his punches werent affecting Conor. He broke then not leading up to it tho
