Jesus wanted to change orthodox Judaism, while the high priests wanted to continue on with the established power structure. Conservatives want to conserve, so they support established power structures. Jesus was against people profitting off god in front of the temple. He was critical of wealth and provided free food for the poor. He said blessed are those who are persecuted and oppressed. I'm not Christian, but I wish a Christian Dem took back Christiniaity and destroyed a Republican in a debate on this. It's just undeniable that Jesus wouldn't be in the 'boot straps" party.
Ole Pete Butteigieg actually did go into this a few times in some interviews that I saw, and it would've been fun to see him debate a Republican.
