My friend had to work up there for 3 months last year, and he said there is a Powerhouse there, which while not "hard core" is about as close as you are going to get in a commercial facility (chalk, squat racks, DB's up to 150, etc). Otherwise there is just the MSU rec and crappy ass pansy gyms.

^Powerhouse sounds infinitely better than the gym I got to now, with its single squat rack and severely limited floor space. That's a start, thanks.

I use a Powerhouse Gym here in Colorado and while not "hardcore" it is pretty good. Bumpers & platform, a couple squat racks, DBs up to 150 like Donut said. They don't supply chalk, but you can bring and use it. They only ask that you clean up after yourself if you get it all over. Not too bad.

Have you checked to see if MSU has any good lifting clubs?

The Powerhouse house close by here in Kokomo, IN sucks. It's actually a Powerhouse affiliate which is named Club 24 Fitness or some shit. It is very machine oriented. I believe it has only one squat rack and one power rack.

It seems like a school that huge ought to have a weightlifting and/or powerlifting club, but if it does, I haven't been able to find anything out about it.

^Yeah, I've seen that page before, but I haven't been able to find out anything about the (supposed) weightlifting club, assuming it actually exists.

There's a strongman crew in Lansing (not East Lansing). I can put you in contact w/ one of their guys if you're interested in such a thing.

bump to see what Fatty has to say.

The dog is being bitchy. The shat mod (i.e. teh Misses) should fix the problem.

No kidding, I keep getting 404 errors. I wasn't able to view this thread at all for awhile until it lengthened to a second page.

Fatty, I'll probably take you up on that, thanks.
